What this illustrates is that the "Christians start wars" argument is a load of old balls. I hold a theory that 100% of wars are started by ruthless bastards irrespective of race, religion, creed or condition of their Aunt Fanny's bowels, but I've never seen that used in an Apolyton debate.

Funny, isn't it? Still, don't let it interrupt the game of "Pin the agenda on the donkey". I'm going to carry on drinking.

I think you need to stop laughing and start smiling, Asher. I fixed your quote to make it look better.

And yes, God hates the sin, but loves the sinners. Even homosexuals. Want me to quote it?

What's wrong with you, Asher? Can't love your enemies?

I don't care what the bible says. The bible has as much relevance to my life as Tom Clancy's novels, and as far as I'm concerned they should be kept in the same section at the bookstore.

The better question would be what's wrong with the person who loves their enemies.

Y'all can continue this circle jerk if you want (for the 83rd time... it's almost as vile as the "Communists or Nazis" debate), or you could do me the honor of responding to the Eisenhower quote over in the Pledge thread.

I've got just over 24 hours until I start the third year of med school, and as a result, promptly disappear from the internet for years on end. If you could do me that one kindness, I'd be forever in your debt. (Or, just acknowledge that I got ya... it's all good. )

To Asher: Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

Nevermind, Asher. You just don't seem have any will power in you right now, but hopefully later in life you'll become more mature and will be better able to accept things as they are. To accept religious folks for who we are, not for the things we believe in. And you might even be able to just take a better look at yourself and realize that you do need religion in your life, but I'm not saying that's ever going to happen; you make your own choices. And whatever choices you make, you have to live with either the good things that come from them or the consequences.

By the way, I think it's highly unlikely that you'll be ever be able to change anyone's mind about religion around here (likely the same for me), so I suggest that you pack your bags and leave these religious threads. Besides, your getting to be a problem around here, especially when you go into your "raging firestorms" and do things that you think are right (spur of the moment kind of thing), but in reality are totally against the rules and immoral. Please try not lose control of yourself. Try to be pleasant and polite. If you do so, people will like you better, regardless of what you believe in.

You know, Asher, I gotta love ya. God forbid that I don't. But I just wish you would be a lot nicer person.

Peace.

It's pretty damned hypocritical of you to burst into tears every time somebody "insults" you, and then insult the bejeezus out of somebody right back. It's also pretty two-faced to hide your insults in a "message of love."

Coming from the guy who frantically smashes the "REPORT THIS POST TO MODERATORS" button whenever he feels insulted?

quote:

Oh, I've got no problems with religious folks until they start talking about what they believe in.

And should you really be one to talk about this sort of thing? You don't accept homosexuals for who you are, right?

quote:
And you might even be able to just take a better look at yourself and realize that you do need religion in your life

I'm reminded of a certain quote involving a "crutch".

quote:
By the way, I think it's highly unlikely that you'll be ever be able to change anyone's mind about religion around here (likely the same for me), so I suggest that you pack your bags and leave these religious threads.

Just so you know, this thread is the one directed at atheists.

You're such a stunning intellectual.

quote:
Besides, your getting to be a problem around here, especially when you go into your "raging firestorms" and do things that you think are right (spur of the moment kind of thing), but in reality are totally against the rules and immoral.

Immoral, ah.
I'm a very bad person since I don't abide by your moral codes. I hope God forgives me when I slap his ass at the gates.

quote:
Try to be pleasant and polite. If you do so, people will like you better, regardless of what you believe in.

I'm not here for people to like me. If I wanted people to like me I'd never share my opinion on anything, that's the easiest way to go about it.

quote:
You know, Asher, I gotta love ya. God forbid that I don't. But I just wish you would be a lot nicer person.

You may think you're a nice person because you're "polite" and "respectful". You're not. You're being the very typical Christian by calling people like myself immoral, telling me I need religion in my life, and basically being a righteous bigot under the facade of my "nice, friendly neighbor". I've seen it all before, and it doesn't impress me.

You underestimate me, I will COMPLAIN about you. That's all there is to it.

It's so rude to insult someone, especially to a man of the church. Insults may not offend others, but religious folks are easily offended by it. You have to be careful who you talk to.

Cloud9 and Asher... If either of you continue this stupid argument that has now crossed over into many threads.

YOU WILL BE SUSPENDED.

So the next post by either of you that continues this silly little war of yours will earn a restriction.

So end it now, or it will be ended for you.

Well, Asher, I tried to be nice to you for once but you just go on ridiculing me some more. So right now I'm going to put you on my ignore list. I will never be able to see another post posted by you again, and I'm happy about that. I don't need you in my life anyway. Sound fair? You can do the same for me if you like. Bye.

Oh, and I will be praying for you.

P.S. Thanks for the comment on being intelligent, though I hardly agree with it.
