In all seriousness, I don't think we are so completely overwhelmed by cheese. In fast food, certainly, but that is a category of its own. New England is cream heavy, but I don't think its cheese heavy. Southern cooking is not dairy-heavy, nor is Californian. Midwestern tends to be pretty cheesy, but there you have the heart of our dairy country. That leaves Southwestern, which is also fairly cheesy, mainly due to Mexican influence I would say.

While it may be alarmingly prevalent in US culture, such a reputation pales in comparison to the universally feared - "Toss one on the barbie, er, mate!" - that so dominates your stereotypical Australian cuisine.


Aus and NZ combined had (A few years ago - it may have changed a little recently) of the order of 30 head of cattle/sheep per head of population - roughly on par with the US in absolute numbers but on a per capita basis there's just no comparison.

Well, in your nation's interest, you'd better kill SuperSneak, because he's leading us to believe that cheese is a compulsory item in every American dish, regardless. Of course, it might be that he's talking about his own preference. In which case, you might like to contact the appropriate national authority and let them know that a new, rather unique Culinary Region has emerged.
