	What are your favorite classic board games? Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

My favorites are Chess, Scrabble, and Axis and Allies. I've been playing Chess since I was 5, and I play in tournaments now. I'm rated about 1450, which is pretty good for my age. . My new love is scrabble. I once got lucky enough to get an 8 letter word, sweating, across 2 triples for 149. Its indescribable how cool that is. Axis and Allies is also cool. Don't know why. Its addictive. "Life" is a very overrated game IMO. Same with checkers. Its too simple. Diplomacy is also a cool game. Risk is also great, but it gets boring if you play it enough. Anyway, what are your favorite games?

Risk - Haven't lost a game in 8 years now

Another favorite, though too little known to be a classic I suppose, is MB's Hotels. Anyone know it?

Axis & Allies: Takes too damn long to set up in the board game form. Prefer the computer version immensely.

Besides, there's no computer version for Europe and Pacific

I always kicked ass as the Brits at A and A. Ironically, when ever I tried to play as the Soviets I would always suffer a most magnanimous of defeats.

Yea I've played risk 2210. The one really cool thing about it is that every game, 3 or 4 countries start as "nuclear wastelands," which means they're out of the game. (You can still get the continent bonus, you just can't inhabit them.) It makes the game different each time.

I play A&A on the computer socially, and it's better because I can play with just 2-3 people and let the computer play the rest!

I've never seen the Europe or Pacific versions of the board game!

I kick ass in TP, but my roommate always screws me at the end, since I make it to the middle first, and he always picks sport questions, about which I know diddly-squat...

That's because anyone playing Germany with half a brain should be able to take out the USSR very fast.

hey taking out the USSR isn't that easy if you have good UK and USA players. I love playing the UK. The first turn is tough for them, but they can really shine later on.

I don't know if they even exist anymore, but Milton Bradley came out with these to games the same time they came out with axis and allies.

Shogun- Fight for control of 15th century Japan.

Fortress America- Kind of timely actually.

Everyone is at war with the US because of SDI. The only exception is Canada which remains neutral.

It was a three on one game. Everybody had extra figures, but after they had been used-that was it.

You had the Pacific Rim, the Europeans, and South America.

The only thing the US had were interior lines of defense, and every game turn SDI would turn 1 satellite (up to 10) into an offensive weapon.

I put a factory in South Africa, and churn out 3 tanks a turn.

Won the game in about a half an hour. By myself. Other Allies didn't have to do a thing but hold on.

In A&A an Axis victory is virtually impossible if the Allies make no mistakes, even if they make none either. There's only one real strategy the Axis can employ to change the dynamic of the game, and I'm not telling
