The NPC Final - Waikato -v- Auckland Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Anyone else interested in betting on the NPC final? Unless some independent third party with knowledge can come up with a margin, it will have to be straight out win/lose betting.

Havak 55

Maybe the way to do it is for the more affluent amongst us to lend to the poverty-stricken with an appropriate interest rate. If the borrower can't meet his repayments, the lender gets to foreclose. It's a system that's buggered the world, why shouldn't it bugger us too?

No thanks!!

Okay, just for fun, I'll have 20 on Waikato. I have absolutely no idea what either team's relative chances are. In the absence of an independent with the knowledge to frame a margin, we'll have to make it straight out win/lose.

As the home ground will give Waikato a slight edge, I reckon I'm being generous by not applying a margin.

Thanks for placing a bet BTW, does anyone else care for a wager?

Can I start with 100 Civ Gold as read previously! Please? If I can, one 20 gold bet on Waikato.

They have the momentum, a win vs. Auckland and on home territory. What can go wrong.

I need to save my existing reserves for the England games.

I’ll be interested to see what Tamerlin says on that choice.

quote:
He said - he thought wittily - that he'd raided Ben Tune's kitbag for his knee medicine

Yes I see what you mean. At the very least that was ill considered of him.

quote:
I wonder why. It has to be more than simply being closer to the rugby-playing areas of Europe.

Well it is also true that Soccer totally dominates the south. At least that is what I was told when I went over to Stadio Flaminio. Certainly they had hundreds of sub machine armed paramilitary at the stadium so they are clearly more used to soccer in Rome!!

quote:
That really is a very, very strange format.

I agree entirely. Back to back games with the same team in December (for us Bezier) then two more games in January to finish the pool. It’s been sandwiched into our crammed season in a way that allows it to build little momentum with fans until the late stages.
Again it highlights the urgent need to re-organise our season.

Actually that is purely a Welsh trait I think you will find.

So Finbar’s subtle hint I have brainwashed you is without foundation.

Hello dudes,

Long time I know, I've not had much opportunity to keep up with this thread on my travels.

I'm glad to see I've still got my civ gold, I was half expecting it to have been raided by the likes of those dodgy Australians.

I'll slap 30 gold on Auckland, just for a laugh.

About a month ago, I was lucky enough to play a game of rugby in Switzerland. The teams were made up of mainly Kiwis, Aussies, and English, so it was fairly intense. (Funnily enough, the intensity continued all the way into the after match piss up. Needless to say, the behaviour was disgraceful, Havak you'd have been proud).

I mention this because I was playing alongside a bloke who claimed to be Scott Robinson's younger brother, Rich. He was also a loose forward, and a dam good one too.

Cheers mate but I'm happy with Auckland - I've chosen them because they beat Canterbury, and I'd rather that my team lost to the winners of the tournament.

It doesn't surprise me in the least - you're a dodgy geezer, plain and simple. I could, of course, at this point, remind everyone that much of my 'p*ssy gold' came from one Finbar... but no, I don't think I will just yet...

As it stands, if you win, you get back your 20 plus 10.

Don't worry about it. Some of us are obviously going to go down the dunny betting with our hearts - no names, no packdrill, Havak - and there will have to be some sort of draw-down facility. I suggest we just advance the desperates some more Civ Gold from our Fantasy Fort Knox and keep track of it. If they win a heap, they can repay it. If they can't, they just end up with a minus balance.
