Israeli channel 2 report that since the beginning of the Intifada, the birth rate in the Gaza strip has gone through the roof. According to the data, a new baby is born every 30 minutes. 1,500 kids are born every month. In the year 2002, over 38,000 kids were born.

The women say that the security situation makes them disregard the Palestinian home planning programs. "We give birth for all the people that were killed. It's a national decision" said a mother who has recently given birth to a 7th child in an interview.

Quite common in troubled times with high birthrates. As the pals do have high birthrates overall Israel will have troubles keeping it up when the stock of russian jews is depleted.

I've heard these "they breed like rats" rhethoric way too often. Among others, it has been used by General Custer, Adolf Hitler and the Gang (Propaganda movie: hordes of rats come running; the text: "The Jews breed like rats") and Slobodan Milosevic about the Albanians.

Thus my opinion about this is that this kind of reasoning sucks.

When a society has approx half of it's population under the age of 14, imho, it's fair to criticize their reproductive rates. How does a society manage to stay functional when half of them haven't reached puberty? (Never mind how the problem will simply increase when the population will be double in a decade.)

Well, actually Israeli women should have sex with Palestinean men if you want to produce more Jews (determined by the mother's religion). I'm not sure the Israeli guys on this board would support that solution.

Fine. Then why isn't every third world country with a higher population growth rate than Europe doing better, economically and Socially, than Europe? Or are they all under the same restraint?

This is a simplistic view even though they do have restraints as well just not so visible or brutal ones.

You just jumped on saying how wasted the Pals are for "breeding like crazy".

I pointed out that low birth is not panakea. On the contrary it produces ills as well.
