My response would not have been so thoughtful. In any event what do we gain by accepting this plan? Pride is more important than life. Humiliation is not as acceptable as death.

With a more circumspect, why do they not offer any carrot or any reason to accept?

I don't know the players, but normally when I ask someone if they want to make a deal and they show no enthusiasm. I take that to mean just that. They are either not interested or ambialvent.

so no suggestion of deals, no references that would make one think they are willing, only bland and terse message!!!!

this is how they've acted throughout the game, at least to us. Its partially a language barrier, as only a few of ND speak english well enough to communicate precisely. Who knows.
