There are success in Space Exploration

Cassinni is almost in Saturns orbit and the ESA Huygens probe onboard Cassinni is in really good shape. The huygen is set to descend onto Saturns moon Titan sometime in early 04 and bring back lots of good data aswell as the first surface pictures of a moon other than our own.

An Israeli journalist(channel two) says that aproximately an hour before the landing he heard some flight controller saying to the shuttle commander Rick Husband "Rick, you will be surprised but we continue with the descent".

So apparently the question is what Husband was supposed to be surprised of?

I lived in Tampa florida when the challenger exploded. I was 14 or 15 I think. Anyway, can remember seeing the explosion clouds and the contrails even tho it was a good 200 miles away. When stuff is that high up on a clear day tho.

well they brought them in earlier then expected , .....

also according to the last tracking the angle of decent was higher then otherwise , ..... maybe because of the so called lift off problem , but not to many statements have been made about that , ....

I like to think of these people as spacefarers, the modern equivilent of the seafarers who set out into an unknown and dangerous ocean. Watching that shuttle come down like a meteor, pieces breaking off, streaking across a clear blue sky...God what a way to go. The old seafarers lost at sea died in seclusion, unheralded. These spacefarers went out in a blaze of glory that burned a path across the sky, rumbled the ground like an earthquake and seared the image of their passing into the lives of billions. They started on a couragous journey into space, but have gone so very much farther.

I can only hope they died quickly. and yes, this is one of the better ways to go. still, the pain of their wives/husbands and kids...

Yes Che, I watched that thing over and over, trying to come to terms with it in the beginning. I guess it was a shock certainly. At first it just looked tragic, and it certainly was. After a while a sense of deep admiration and respect came home. Those people didn't want to die like that today, but if your time was today then that was a fine and noble a way to go and today such a pretty day in Texas...

Actually, that would be glorious, Siro. exploding emidiately, without feeling pain, after struggling with the controls for a while.
