What does the ISDG have to do with this game?

Is there some pending attack in ISDG that is similar to our situation? I guessing here. I'm not part of ISDG at all.

It no longer makes sense in this thread... Tibi referred to something from ISDG that is supposed to be kept secret. NM objected (IMHO, for no good reason - we do not have members that could reveal the secret to "the other party") and Tibi took that part out of his post.

Just ignore the whole thing - Tibi's post makes sense even without that reference (actually, for those not part of ISDG, it makes even better sense now... ).

Received the following message from Darekill today:

quote:
Hi Vondrack,
As planed we accepted peace and offered unaceppted spices.
The bug seems to be gone since I was able to open the active Deals Screen.

As for our Transport. We will move it so, that it won't provoke you. GoW needs to be distracted a bit. So there will be still some Transports moving within our cultural borders but a single Transport isn't capable to pose a major threat to you.

As for GS. The only thing I can asure you that there is something cooking. Something you already know.Better be good prepared. We try to prepared for any stupidity of GoW...

Greetings Darekill

He's responding to my line about GS cooking something up I added to a PM regarding the fake war. So, I believe it's crystal clear now. Even ND knows that GS is after us. Even ND is not sure where GoW stands - and better get prepared for everything.

Or they just want us to think GoW is an uncertain factor. Let's not trust them too much.

Anyone else noticed Darekill's post in the public forum?

This is interesting. It may be he's just not having time to play (that would fit with his remark regarding the player to replace him)... but it may be that his anti-Lego policy led ND to a position their member base did not like.

Who knows... once their new turn-player is known, it will be time to give some trading a try. ND lacks Atomic Theory, at the very least. Or lacked, last turn.

It'd be beautiful, but I don't really think so. That's probably only wishful thinking.

Anyway, I definitely agree to try and talk with the new ND leader. Maybe it'll be Zayxus again

Or perhaps Zayxus simply wanted to stab us in the back eventually, and Darekill wanted to go the more honorable route of cutting off relations before any attack.

The chat with Darekill was worth the time, I believe. Very much worth the time.

We agreed on total confidentiality - on the private level. So... I'm not going to post the log, nor disclose details. I am really sorry for that - I am not trying to keep you out of the loop, but I am only able to get certain information this way.

Just trust me with my judgment when it comes to ND these days, please.

If you wanna have a look at what this is about, check the 1250AD war thread. There are two ND vessels in our territorial waters - NDS Haudruff & NDT Schlepper.

From what Darekill told me yesterday, this is kind of a test. We shoot, they shoot. We turn hostile and/or take a hardline stance, they turn hostile and/or take a hardline stance. We ask them to leave and they may get pissed. We ignore them and things may start moving in the wrong way.

So, a delicate situation it is... talking to some of you in the chatroom, an idea crossed my mind... using a little bit of roleplaying might allow us to send the message, while still keeping our face.

Let me sketch a draft here:

quote:
Honourable Nation of Neu Demogyptica!

It is in sad times that we send you this message. As you have probably heard already, we were attacked by the nations of Gathering Storm and Glory of War. This attack was unprovoked, coming while we struggle to keep pace with the fast-evolving world.

With reports of our ships being sunk all over the world, it will sure come to you as no surprise that an alarm was rang in Crossing today at 5:21am, when our coastal batteries spotted a mighty battleship in the morning mist. Having been enjoying peaceful relations with our esteemed neighbour for centuries there, batteries were alerted, but ordered to hold - and thank God they were! Once the mist faded away in the rising sun, the friendly flag of Neu Demogyptica appeared flying high and we were able to identify the battleship as NDS Haudruff. And behind her, a smaller transport vessel, NDT Schlepper.

As we have not been informed about your ships entering our territorial waters and there have been no communication from your ships despite numerous attempts from our side, we fear the worst - perhaps an outbreak of a deadly disease aboard or a serious engine malfunction? Have the navigation systems failed and your ships got stuck in the treacherous shallow waters around Crossing?

Although we have no repair ships in the area, we are ready to give you whatever help we can - there is a couple of our warships around and they would be able to assist you. Unfortunately, with the current tension in the world, we fear that sending a warship ahead might lead the commander of your ship, if uninformed, to believe we mean harm - and cause him to open fire.

An incident like that would be most unfortunate, as we highly value our long, friendly relations. Fighting your nation for no good reason would be a true disaster at any time, but even moreso at this moment, where we struggle for survival - facing the deadly war machines of GS and GoW.

We are looking forward to your response.

Yours sincerely,
Legoland

OK, it's just quick and dirty, but you get the idea... I am going to play the "obvious" moves now, so read this and give me your thoughts.

Looks okay to me.

From what Darekill has told us, it sounds like ND is asking the impossible: If we attack, they attack. But if we ask them to leave, they attack as well. And if we do nothing things likely go downhill as well.

This is a nice way of not doing any of those three: we make contact without actually saying anything meaningful.

I suppose the true intent is to keep portions of our infantry away from the main invasion force. The ships do not have to do anything, and they will still occupy 20 - 30 infantries.

Since ND does not have much military for a full invasion, my guess is these ships are intended to divert our infantry.

Or perhaps, they are intended to look like they are diverting our infantry to divert our infantry.

They do have some Marines. Let's not leave ourselves open to them unless we have to pick an area to skimp on defense.

Somehow, I fear that even if we leave this area sorely underdefended, believing ND would not attack, we will still not have enough to safely cover everything needed.

Not to be the nay-sayer, but it sounds like ND has created a situation where they can attack no matter what we do. It looks like they are just looking for the slightest motivation to attack, and even if we don't provide it, I'm sure they'll come up with something on their own...

What if they have to pose like hostile? What if their role is supposed to be to "tie our forces", but they in fact do not mind our units to fight elsewhere?

A long, bloody war is in their best interest. If we fail to hold the initial invasion, there will be no long, bloody war.

OK, I am starting to think that we are about to be dealt a real serious blow sometimes soon... since things are going simply too well today. First the miraculous performance of U-Q1... and now this!!!

quote:
Dear
vondrack
Secretary of State
Legoland

With my deepest regret I have to tell you, that the captains of the "NDD Haudruff" and the "NDD Schlepper" have been relived of their Captainspatents. They are working now together as a team in the Mointains to lay tracks for the railroad.

It must have been bloodline which runs back many centurys ago that they wanted to visit the place where the only stranger from Borconia ever has set his feet on the Legonian continent. It was their grand grand grandfather. They were ridiculus curious to see that shore and have forgotten all their orders to stay clear off of your land.

They had no authorization to do so. We are more than gratefull that you did not sank their ships and saved the lives of thousends of inocent Marines that were onboard of the "NDD Schlepper".

We hope to avoid such incidents in the future.

As you will notice the ships have been moved away.

Greetings
Darekill

I briefly responded in an informal way...

quote:

And here, I was hesitating whether a little bit of roleplaying was the right thing to do with a team that sent the Roleplayers to exile...

vondrack

Darekill's response was fast:

quote:
I like roleplay a lot.
I did not like Roleplay.
there's a difference
No i did like them too but i liked their territory even more.

In this context...

Did I ever tell you how great your continent looks?

Ah, I should stop teasing you.
BtW. GS has Mech.Inf. **** **** ****......

Those are sh|ts there...

Not sure whether this is good news or not... but I guess it's not very bad. It rules out the Nuclear Power beeline which would make GS marines all that more dangerous. It also gives us an estimate of the GS research power (close to 800bpt). It also means that our mobilization is unlikely to deny a wonder to us - GS would be there quicker anyway (like 8 more turns).

What puzzles me completely, though... why did GS not wait for MIs to join the invasion forces? Or do they plan to use transport-chaining to get them to Legos as fast as the beachhead units?

I am not all that scared of MIs, to be honest. Arty hits them just fine and if MIs are low on health, tanks do well against them, too.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

From the other thread:

quote:

1. they are weak, therefor they are not really able to help us militarily
2. they would help us only when the situation becomes desperate for us, which is too late.
At this point I don't think that ND wants to help GoW and GS even more, but they don't really have a chance to do otherwise. They fear a miltary intervention against them.
However, we should try to seek ways of cooperation that can't be detected by GS and GoW, yet it'd help ND and us. More about this in the ND diplo thread.

Here's an idea: we could buy radio from ND. We put our research slider on 0 for the remaining 2 turns, ND delivers us radio in 2 turns, and we split the money with them. This is good for us and good for them. Plus we don't get radio earlier, and the others won't be suspicious.

The only danger is that GoW may investigate a city and see us on 0% science.
Talking in the chat with Radek about this, he came with the idea about what we could say: that we are trying to steal a tech, instead of researching it.

Basically, it is not a problem for us if GoW or GS finds out about the "rat", but it is our argument on how to convince ND to accept the deal
