Where has this holding back actually occured, exactly?

It seems to me there has been a constant power projection towards Baghdad, in what is, the quickest maneuver warfare in history.

Update for Paitikis: The airport has been in American hands for about three days now. It was the base for Saturday's incursion into Baghdad. The journalists who were going to be taken to "see the airport" weren't taken. There never was a successful counterattack in which they were pushed back.

And Basra has been taken (the Brits are reluctant to use the word "secured", but I think "taken" is reasonable), and the Americans are still in central Baghdad, occupying at least one Presidential palace (unless they've pulled out in the last hour or so).

Ming, you can't honestly expect me not to make fun of somebody who trusts Russian and Iraqi news reports? He talked about a three day war, something nobody in America had ever mentioned, and I get chewed out for making fun of him? He's so full of it, his eyes are brown.

If mincing little trolls are a protected species at this site, feel free to ban me. He's done nothing but post lies and slander this entire thread.

sorry but you are simply funny

when did this replanning happen, exactly?

they simply haven't needed extra troops; the 4th ID isn't deployed yet, and already had deployment issues through Turkey... no extra troops have been required...

as for the flowers? would have been nice... but they brought guns and bombs, and planned to kill the republican guard, anyway...

Put an end to popups!

The US Media reports both American victories and setbacks in the war. Helicopter collapses, casulties, and other problems all recieve heavy coverage. We also repeat what the Iraqi information minister is claiming. The US media was very critical of our military effort. after the first week when it was seen the war would be alot longer then we thought it would. To compare our media to the media in third world countries like Iraq and Russia is a joke.

Paitikis, why do you keep mentioning children in hospitals?

Yes, there are children in hospitals. And, yes, they're on TV too, so where's the censorship there?

Are they more important because they're on TV? Thousands of victims of Saddam's regime are murdered in his prisons on a regular basis, but they're not on TV. Does this help you to pretend that they do not exist?

US media is much more democratic. Russian media say the words of Putin and Zhirinovsky. Coalition media (CNN for example) shows both glorious american forces and american war protesters. Yes CNN also "adapt" the news, they said for 4 times that americans found chemical weapons and it was wrong.

Interfax(rus) journalist was invited to politocal talk-show on 9th Israeli chanel (russian language chanel of Israel). He was asked: "And what is the situation with international terrorists in Chechnya?". He replied: "There are no terrorists. There are simply bandits and crimes". He was asked " Do you think, that Chechnian people fight for their own independence and liberty?". He answered: "No Chechnians are Russin people".

Israeli 9th chanel is objective enought. It says about fascism racism in Israel both towards russians adn from russians. It reports about Iraq war according own correspondents and according CNN matherials, but it says that CNN's information can be not very objective. Etc. .

It simply takes a while to kill/capture/cause to desert a hundred thousand or so Iraqi troops.

I'd like for you to point out exactly where the strategic failures have been for the Coalition, and where the strategic successes have been for the Iraqi's.

Its been a fabulous and especially well executed plan, involving massive coordination of naval, land and air forces, demonstrating precisie and overwhelming force, that simply caused the Iraqi Republican Guard to fold like a cheap suit, after 4 days of bombardment, and 1 day of maneuver warfare.

In terms of civilian losses, its among the best, if not the best in recent history, involving national armies.

Certainly, you could argue that the Coalition has SAVED lives, by mitigating deaths that have happened and would continue to happen, under Saddam's rule.

Hmmm, American troops are in Baghdad in about 2 weeks. That's a failure?

Then again, Pattycakes still believes the Iraqi Information Minister that the Iraqis still have Baghdad Airport. One wonders what drugs he is taken. I mean, really, there is a anti-Americanism and then there is anti-Americanism.

When they fight occupying forces, they may be described as freedom fighters.

When they take over a theater and try to kill hundreds of men, women and children, they are properly called terrorists.

Saddam and the Ba'athists have INTENTIONALLY killed and tortured his own citizens for decades.

The Coalition has made every effort... more than any other army, ever, to avoid civilian casualties, and has been successful in doing so. Unintentional civilian casualties are tragic and regrettable.

Saddam's own military has been less effective in avoiding civilian casualties, by bombarding his own capital with unguided SAM's, and AAA fragments, and by violating the Geneva convention, demanding separation of civilian and military forces.

The difference is simply intent. The Coalition has not intended civilian casualties. Saddam ACTIVELY SEEKS civilian casualties.
