When the tech is discovered, instead of choosing a tech directly, go to the science advisor. From there, switch to the domestic advisor, and then on to the city view of the city you want to change. Change its build order, and once that's done and the tech is chosen, exit the advisor screen and let the turn proceed normally.
Is that correct? |
Yes that's it. By going into the F6 screen (which is one of the options you get on the screen that tells you a tech has been discovered), you can do all you like in the F1 screen, or any other screen for that matter.
I'm not sure how it works with upgrading, but there certainly is a chance that you can upgrade your units too, and use them in the same turn. It's a bit like the equivalent of the Shift-U trick, but then backwards.
