Nathan, if you use the same trick to go into the city window of monsoon, you might get a view on Voxes units too before 'entering' the turn. I guess Arashi would work too.

I'm highly skeptical regarding whether we'll know whether we'll use the Great Lighthouse for an invasion or not until a few turns before we're ready to use it. I can't see us even seriously considering invading Bob unless either internal warfare seriously weakens the Bobians or we can get an alliance with at least one Bobian civ. And we may or may not have a clear picture of whether one of those circumstances is going to develop by the time the war with Vox is winding down.

Also, building the Colossus and then the Great Lighthouse, while perhaps surer than building the Great Lighthouse and then the Colossus, is a hundred shields more expensive.

Change its build order, and once that's done and the tech is chosen, exit the advisor screen and let the turn proceed normally.

Is that correct?

Yes that's it. By going into the F6 screen (which is one of the options you get on the screen that tells you a tech has been discovered), you can do all you like in the F1 screen, or any other screen for that matter.

I'm not sure how it works with upgrading, but there certainly is a chance that you can upgrade your units too, and use them in the same turn. It's a bit like the equivalent of the Shift-U trick, but then backwards.

Just about. Go to the science guy first, and set the new research. Then go to DomAdvisor and go into the city and adjust the build. Once you leave the city screen, you will be through the beginning sequence.

I just tried it with another PBEM.

If that is a possible alternative, then I think we should go ahead and finish the turn and send it out. We will have about a day to poll on the wonder issue then. While I have never tried this myself, if some have MP experience in doing this, I am ok with it

Thanks. I've gone into the F1 screen any number of times that way to adjust the science slider, but I've never thought to do it to change builds orders.

If we don't build the Collosus now, we can aim for it, but I do not think we'll get it. It seems to me like other civs have prebuilds going on as well. ND has Anagrasomething at size 6, which could mean many things, but is probably meant for production of some sort. Imperial city is prebuilding, Lego most likely has another prebuild going. Madrid could very well be prebuilding a courthouse for the Collosus (which still doesn't let them get it in 7 turns, though). All the civs have few cities, not many workers, and not much pop, it has to go to something.

Okay, I'll set things up so if we do nothing, the Great Library will finish building next turn, and we can keep discussing the matter until then. (And if someone would please post a poll, I'd appreciate it; I've already basically blown my whole day on this turn.)

Any objections to my other plans?

Well the argument is that we'll need more units than we can have without Hurricane. If that is the case, then we also may not be in any sort of military condition to use the Great Lighthouse by the end of the war with Vox. Who knows what will happen on Bob... but we do know that if we have no sufficient military to invade with, we can't invade.

Nathan, try it, you will be surprised at how close you can shave. It surprises me that you do not do it often, I would have thought it would have fitted your type of micromanaging well. Prebuilding tanks is one of the pleasures, you can have all your cities complete a tank the moment you discover mobile warfare, if they before hand have been prebuilding something big enough (infantry sometimes works).

Partly, it's not a trick I've run into before - at least not with enough about the mechanics for me to get them down. In any case, I'm not usually all that fond of fighting with tanks. I usually find that I can build up a huge force for upgrade to MAs right about the time I get the tech for them, so that's when I time my major late-game offensives.

Full PM-box? Change here!

Maybe its because you micromanage too well that you haven't seen it that often. Many times, I find myself setting a prebuild city to disorder, because I somehow miscalculated the prebuild by one or two turns. In such a case, every turn counts, and switching a palace to eg the GLib (one of the points I run into this problem 1 in games out of 3) the same turn works as a charm.

You can also go into the city view, rearranging workers if you unexpectedly get the tech before you would expect it to (by others haveing discovered before you), which could also resolve disorder by adding entertainers. But, if you exit the city view, the turn continues. You can however cycle through your cities, its just when you try to return to your domestic advisor that the builds will start as normal.

I'm shifting some growth from Tempest to EotS since EotS doesn't need all the shields it could get while short rushing and Tempest won't have an aqueduct for a while anyhow.

Shots sent. I caught a mistake in Cyclone after I sent the shots; it's back to where it grows next turn, and that gives it the shields for its worker.
