There are many things nowadays that cast women as Sex objects apart from Pornography, and I'm mainly thinking of Advertising here.
You have to consider exploitation as well though, since some women that are consenting may still not have a great element of Choice. They are then made to do sometimes quite dreadful things to please some guy of much better means at the other end of the telephone guy.
I'd be lying if i said i never looked at Pornography, but i think it would be a good thing it was made illigal. But thats just my 2$'s.

I agree with Tuomerehu. If everyone is adult and no one is forced, it's ok. I have thought about this a lot lately, the ethical side of porn. I think we can not limit porn in any ways, state or anyone else should not be able to tell what I can and can not watch, if the material itself is not hurting anyone. I should have the right to decide myself, and I can always NOT watch it. I can protest that porn is evil and I can let my opinion heard. Even better, I can start and make better films myself which are about love and other nonsense, and promote them. I can become a rival to porn, and still without disturbing other peoples lives, because it is none of my business what people like to do in their own homes, or even more, it is none of my business what they want to watch from their televisions.
Or if I don't like the porn trend these days, I can start making fun porn etc without quadro penetrations.
But, as long as it's not hurting anyone.. no problems. It can hurt the emotional side of youngsters, but they are not adult, and they shouldn't be watching porn in the first place, the really young I mean, so it's not the fault of porn itself if they got their hands on it. Parents should know what their kids are doing. Besides, at some point they'll get to see some porn anyway, at some party, some friends dads tapes, or some other way. It can't be stopped, but parents can discuss about it and make sure they understand it's adult stuff, and has very little to do with reality. And that all the friends who boast having sex every weekened at the age of 13 are all lying.
And hey, if showing the bodies of women or men is a problem, then we should start at MTVs music videos and beach parties and what ever they have. And commercials as someone said.. kids see these things all day long. Trend is set and kids want to be like that. It only lacks the good old penetration.
And feminists complaining about porn being men dominative business.. well get on the business and change the statistics then! Make some amazonian videos where they whip young males all day long and pour beer on their butts. But as long as the male actors are also willing to do that.. .
It is adult entertainment, and that's the way it should be. Late night entertainment for adults.. little something to sparkle up your sex life, give some ideas, or just to watch by yourself and have fun. It's exciting and that's a human thing and normal, why shouldn't we feed it every now and then.. not repress it. Porn is cool. It's pink and groovy. It's nice basslines and corny acting. It's acting at it's best, it's TRUE acting. Acting with your bodies with nothing covering you. It's art. And it's good business...
... well maybe these days it's not so pink or groovy but it used to be!

as no one is chiming in yet for "unethical" I may as well get the ball rolling till the real hard-liners get here and find this thread.
You're all talking about "consenting adults" and "not being forced," but I don't believe the porn industry is simply that black and white. There are many shades of gray in there.
One common element I've hear is that sometimes a girl is very young, and wanted to work as an actress, but found out getting parts is quite difficult, so she decided to begin acting in the porn industry. Once she's made that step, she won't be doing any hollywood films in the future. She might not totally enjoy what she's doing, but now that she made that choice, there's no going back.
I've also heard of women who "quit" the porn industry and stopped acting, but eventually came back as their other careers they can get don't pan out and certainly won't make as much money.
Of course I can't say my stories are true as I've heard most of them second hand, but I believe the porn industry, especially for the actors, is a one way door. Sure it's not difficult to start your own website or sell your body for movies, but once you're in, you're in. And every step deeper you take (pictures -> softcore -> hardcore), you're stuck.
I'm sure there are some women who truly enjoy their job, but from my feeling it's few and far between.
I'm still on the fence regarding ethical v. unethical, but I'd place my money on being bad for society.
Also, I see the porn industry similar to prostitution. Can you really say that the women prostitutes are happy with their jobs?
I feel that these types of jobs are largely a last resort for women and not something they want or like to do, but something that they felt trapped into doing.

Like I said, 'porn' is a term way too wide for such a poll.

Who are you to define 'bad' to the society, if you aren't all the members of the 'society' in the same time? IMO, pornography is degrading to the producers and destructive to the consumers, but who am I to question their values, to be a babysitter of their souls? Those are their lives, not mine, and they decide from the fates of their lives, not me (EDIT: I'm referring to 'ideal' cases here, described on my 1st post to this topic).
