quote:
Beta,
This is low and ridiculous. I just can't believe that you're back to public lies and mud slinging. And you want GS to trust your team with another agreement?
The peace offer that you mention is rather similar to a peace offer that we have tried to communicate to Vox many turns prior to our maneuvers that have cut your iron supply and to our landing deep within your territory. You rejected it then. Now, to propose such an offer to us when we have troops knocking on the doorstep of several of your cities is insulting. We are close to complete victory, and you expect us to just give up all that we've put into this war (an entire GA blown on building military units) and settle for a quarter of what we could get if we continue the war?
No, Beta. I think we have made ourselves clear when we said that we will not throw all that we've put into this war away. Also, we've explained that your previous deception, following the break of this war, was so good that we cannot live peacefully by your nation ever again, wondering each turn when you will doublecross us again. Seriously, after everything that you've done, you can't expect us to be "nice" to you in negotiations.
Then, you go on to list some of your "tributes" to us. Whether these were really displays of good will is questionable - Jon did say that you've made some in-game mistakes in the past few turns, and the immortals that haven't attacked our beachhead (which, btw, would have probably failed horribly if they tried to attack our fortified pikemen on hills) did move south and north for no apparent reason. Then you go on to tell about your oh-so-kind tribute in the south, where you moved some immortals off of a mountain and into the open so that we could kill them more easily - but you conveniently neglect to mention that they were all down to 1HP, so whether this was a tribute or not is nearly meaningless, since we were attacking with veteran Medieval Infantry.
You never mentioned to us that these were displays of good will. Whereas we've made ourselves very clear that in-game hostilities will continue via diplomatic PMs.
And to top it all, you are now revealing to the public, without our consent, the details of our communications in the past few turns. And you still wonder why we wouldn't settle for an agreement that would leave you as our neighbours?
You try to present us as cruel foes - but as usual, you lie and cheat in the process. This is your second time now. |

How about...
As the Minister of Diplomatic Affairs, I am deeply saddend that this is the route that Vox has chosen to take regarding our once private peace negotiation. GS will not be held hostage to Vox's apparent attempt to bully us (in the public forum) into a policy contrary to what we have already adopted. GS has been forthcoming in it's decision that we intend to fufill our Manifest Destiny. Due to the clever Vox deception and aggression, Gathering Storm has spent an entire GA on the war effort. Nothing less than removal of Vox from our shores will satisfy (and properly compensate) us. This deplorable development only strenghtens our resolve and hardens our hearts towards Vox. May your blades chip and shatter
Our Diplomats will be contacting each nation soon so that we may discuss a world without Vox.
ManicStarSeed,
Minister of Diplomatic Affairs, Gathering Storm
Maybe we can add....
We regret that we killed your peace offering of all those (im)mortals, Was that the error that Jin spoke of?
We were willing to provide resources, luxurarys, tecnology and a 12 turn cease fire in order for vox to pull up stakes. We made it CLEAR that hostilities will continue until peace is finalized. Now hostilities shall continue until Vox is eliminated.
It is of UTMOST IMPORTANCE that we WELCOME RP to explore our coast, with our coordination to insure the war effort goes FULL STEAM AHEAD.

I'm okay with keeping our responses private, as long as we send responses to all the teams very quickly. Key points:
1) Our goal is less to claim the entire continent than it is to avoid having to spend large sums of gold and shields for the rest of the game defending a border with a nation that has proven beyond all doubt that it cannot be trusted. After the way Vox lied to set up their invasion, and after their ongoing lies and half-truths in an effort to blacken our reputation, it would be hard to consider any peace treaty they sign worth the paper it's printed on.
2) Vox's immortals were executed for the crimes of invasion in violation of treaty, complicity in the murder of Grog, and threatening the public safety, exactly on schedule. We had already reduced all but two of them to one hit point with catapults by the time Vox moved them, and Vox knew beyond all reasonable doubt that those immortals were about to die unless we could be persuaded not to finish them off. Worse, Vox's "sign of good faith" put their immortals next to not one, not two, but three undefended Gathering Storm workers. If it was a sign of good faith, it was a remarkably clumsy one.
3) The only territory Vox offered to cede was territory that was already behind our new front lines, and which they no longer had any plausible chance of holding. In any case, no giving up of territory, short of Vox's leaving the continent, would solve the fundamental problem of our having to coexist with a neighbor that has already demonstrated both its willingness to attack us and an almost total lack of regard for the truth.
