I'm absolutely sure then more then 75 groups and more then 1200 Saddam followers still active in Iraq.
So?
In both cases Yanks declared that war is over despite their forces still takes losses every day.
They changed regimes in both places and more or less control territory. The active resistance is over, but it doesn't mean that they don't lose soldiers everyday, because partisans are still active. The same in Chechnya, but aside Americans who don't control in Afghanistan anything except Kabul, we control entire territory of Chechnya and already:
1) restored law there.
2) restored power institutions.
3) formed local police and security forces from LOCAL, Chechen people, equiped and armed them.
4) organized a referendum there and Chechens confirmed new constitution and the law about elections of president of Chechen Republic (and such elections will be there within several months).
5) Start to withdraw regular army, because local security forces, and locals can protect themselves now.
26 000. Do have any idea how many American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq? Still you foreigners whining that Yanks already finished their wars long ago, while Russians still fighting.
He said "the tasks of the Defense Ministry's units will not be changed."
TASKS, not forces involved in missions to acomplish this task. Your own artical prooves that withdrawal of regual army is already started several months ago. Good job.
Because some freaks, the most sick motherf*ckers perfectly realize that for their crimes they will be hanged and they still hidding somewhere and still attack. But each new day the number of those freaks is decreased. Soon we'll catch all of them. |
Actually, Bush just said that major fighting is over -- and to all appearances, it is.
The war won't be over until we have Saddam (or what's left of him).

Not everyone think so.
MtG for example said something like this "We f*cked-up less in Afghanistan and with less casualties, than Soviets f*cked-up in Afghanistan." Which means that he think that American f*ck-up in Afghanistan is already over.

Well, well, well, there could be only two opportunities:
1) It's not true.
2) You're revealing some info that you shouldn't reveal. Or perhaps it's ok for US navy serviceman to reveal information which he obtain during his work? |
Well, I've learned a few things since I went out into the fleet.
(1) The Russian military is more active than I thought it was.
(2) It's still much, much, less active than you seem to think Serb.
Lemme tell you though, something like a Yard Fire is very hard to cover up to other countries intelligence agencies. Even in the '60s, the Russians knew when any delays in American shipbuilding was the result of a yard fire. All you have to do is look for an order for lotsa electronic equipment that should already be on board.
If someone should see that (and I've seen it in Janes amoung other places so it isn't really that big of a secret) there are orders for bulk amounts of electronics for a ship that's in port/in the yard...and the electronics have already been ordered once, it means one of three things:
(1) The equipment had been installed once, but a fire destroyed it and everything else in the space and nearby compartments.
(2)Someone did something stupid like drop the thing into the water by the pier when loading it on to the ship...
(3)it got stolen.
If a ship stays in the yards much longer when it's still ordering repeats of bulk electronics...as Janes pointed out, there was probably a yard casulty.
