Over 2,200 servicemen died in second Chechen campaign
ROSTOV-ON-DON. July 2 (Interfax) - Over 2,240 servicemen were killed in the anti-terrorist operation in Chechnya in 1999-2003, Major- General Sergei Tochilin, deputy commander-in-chief of Russia's Interior Troops, said at a meeting of the Federation Council's coordination council in Rostov-on-Don on Wednesday for the protection of servicemen who took part in the anti-terrorist operation in the Northern Caucasus.
Viktor Ozerov, chairman of the Federation Council's defense and security committee, said that over 13,000 servicemen who took part in the second Chechen campaign are now disabled and one out of four servicemen who returned form Chechnya needs serious psychological counseling.
In total, some 300,000 servicemen fought in the two Chechen campaigns, Ozerov said.
hope the translation is okay , .....
aldo the number of deaths and MIA is higher then the number given above , .....
have a nice day |
And?
Do you realize difference between active fighting and garnison duty? Major forces of terrorists were defeated within two months. After two months Russian army gain full control over entire territory of Chechnya. But garnison duty can't be without losses anyway. This data include KIA numbers for soldiers lost during active fighting (major part) and for soldiers lost during garnison duties.

Of course I don't. I just read a book recently about those things. The author claims that just before the fall of SU, Soviets had prototypes of absolutely new kinds of weapons. A weapons that use new physical principles.

Oops, sorry. Apparently, Pyotr Velikiy was not in the Baltic Sea during the recent maneuvers. However it's not true that it is still in the dry dock. This ship has been on active duty many times. |
It wasn't? Who told you that? Panag? And you trust him?
Earlier, he said that Peyotr Velikiy is aircraft carrier. After such crap I wouldn't trust to a single word he says.
I don't know why you and me should proove that Peyotr is fully operational to such guy as he is. It's waste of time.

Over 75 rebel groups active in Chechnya - Russian general
ROSTOV-ON-DON. July 2 (Interfax-South) - More than 75 rebel groups are active in Chechnya today, troop commander at the North Caucasus Military District Col. Gen. Vladimir Boldyrev said on Wednesday.
"The groups include roughly 1,200 people with about 300 foreign mercenaries," Boldyrev said. |
I'm absoltely sure that more than 75 groups and more then 1200 fighters of Taliban still active in Afghanistan.
I'm absolutely sure then more then 75 groups and more then 1200 Saddam followers still active in Iraq.
So?
In both cases Yanks declared that war is over despite their forces still takes losses every day.
They changed regimes in both places and more or less control territory. The active resistance is over, but it doesn't mean that they don't lose soldiers everyday, because partisans are still active. The same in Chechnya, but aside Americans who don't control in Afghanistan anything except Kabul, we control entire territory of Chechnya and already:
1) restored law there.
2) restored power institutions.
3) formed local police and security forces from LOCAL, Chechen people, equiped and armed them.
4) organized a referendum there and Chechens confirmed new constitution and the law about elections of president of Chechen Republic (and such elections will be there within several months).
5) Start to withdraw regular army, because local security forces, and locals can protect themselves now.
quote: Some 26,000 troops of the North Caucasus Military District are currently in Chechnya. The 42nd motorized division, two special brigades and an intelligence unit form the backbone of the contingent. |
26 000. Do have any idea how many American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq? Still you foreigners whining that Yanks already finished their wars long ago, while Russians still fighting.
quote: Asked about the transfer of the command of the anti-terrorist operation to the Chechen Interior Ministry, Boldyrev noted that "the tasks of the Defense Ministry's units will not be changed. Their task is to eliminate rebels in the mountains," he said.
A gradual withdrawal of the Defense Ministry's troops from Chechnya is underway, he said.
"In the past two months, three tactic groups have been withdrawn," he said.
|
He said "the tasks of the Defense Ministry's units will not be changed."
TASKS, not forces involved in missions to acomplish this task. Your own artical prooves that withdrawal of regual army is already started several months ago. Good job.

if that two month war is over , then why is the above happening , .....
have a nice day |
Because some freaks, the most sick motherf*ckers perfectly realize that for their crimes they will be hanged and they still hidding somewhere and still attack. But each new day the number of those freaks is decreased. Soon we'll catch all of them.

noone!=a lot. Unless by a lot you mean a a couple of hundred of people. And that's.. well nothing. Many people did immigrate out of Israel, a couple of thousands do, and that's natural. But they surely didn't go to Russia. |
Russian news says otherwise, but I wouldn't argue about this, because I know what you think about our news.
One thing I know for sure. We have a large German community here in my home city. After the fall of SU a lot of "Russian Germans" emigrated to Germany, now a lot of them returned. About this I'm ABSOLUTELY sure.

Three Tu-95MS bombers and six Tu-160 airplanes had already arrived at Engels since October 1999 in fulfilment of the intergovernmental agreements. Before being moved to Russia, 19 Tu-160 airplanes were stationed at the Priluki airfield and 21 Tu-95MS were located in Uzin.

And where the hell did you get this 8 number? Even your own article have different numbers.
Last time I heard our long-range aviation currently have 16 fully operational Tu-160. Not to mention Tu-95 and other models.
Israelis long-range aviation do not exist.
Have a nice day.

If 90 non-Jews and 10 Jews return every year while 35,000 come, it's definetely not "A lot of Jews returned to Russia already and they still returning".
