exactly what would be a level playing field? I support that as well at the child level. Every child should have the same opportunities. There should be no dicrepencies between inner city school and out city ones. Every child should be able to succeed if they want to.

all of our supermarkets are the same. An Albertson's is an Albertsons. As for the mexican markets, well I see nothing inheritantly wrong with mexican food.

equal opprotunity to succeed
the rules to apply to everyone
the system to be fair

Imagine a sport like baseball. Everyone must play by the same rules. The Umpires are like government, ensuring the rules get enforced. But what if the rules weren't fair? What if certain players were allowed to use aluminum bats and others weren't? What if some players automatically started out on base. What if some players or teams were allowed more than 3 outs? What if some teams started the game with 2 runs already?

doesn't sound fair does it?

Most Mexican markets are actually better, as there is much less in the way of processed food and a lot more emphasisi on veggies and fruits. Non-Tex-Mex Mexican food is very healthy.

I disagree about Albertsons. I've been to two, and they are very different. One was dirty and nasty and the other was nice and clean. Not that that has anything to do with the products they carry.

Suffering from ads?

yes I am starving as well.

Diets suck

But I have found the best weight loss program ever. I should patent it and make a lot of money off of it. It involves me eating less food. Sure I feel hungry a lot, but I'm used to it. It works.

hunger pain is an interesting thing. Something I have been thinking a lot about. But it isn't a bad thing. You can't go through life without pain. You can't expect people to be full all the time- that is how they get fat.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

yeah nobody's starving in philly... you get that poor and you get food stamps... and even if you don't, you can easily get food real cheap. a dime for a pack of ramon noodles and that **** can be a meal. or do what we did back when mcdonalds and what not had special prices for certain days (like 39 cent hamburgers on wednesday or something) and buy a whole lot then freeze them and keep them for the whole week. and if worse comes to worse, you can just water down some ketchup and have some tomato soup

so the point is, nobody's starving in the cities... maybe some mexicans in the shitty rural barrios or some american indian people in the desert are starving but anyone in mainstream america sure as hell aint

This is ironic because we live in the same city, and there are very different Albertson's in this city. There are two by where I grew up (Bonanza and Lamb, Bonanza and Nellis) that are NASTY. I live in a good part of town, and the Albertson's down the street (Silverado Ranch and Maryland Pkwy) is really really nice. To be fair, though, those other ones were old and used to be Lucky's and this one is relatively new.

But healthy food is expensive. I decided to buy only good food one week, and I spent two to three times what I usually spend.

woods? what does that mean?

but nah what the hell are you talking about? I said maybe some people in the rural shitholes are starving but no one's truly starving here in the cities... and probably the reason for starvation in rural areas is because of the lack of infrastructure preventing people from having any kind of steady work nor affordable food goods.

frankly, i find you disgusting sava... i hope i am not banned for saying this but i truly want to beat your ass. you are an evil, twisted, and hateful person who is blind in your self-assurance of your rightness and your blind hatred of all that will improve the lives of the proletariat...

well I won't argue the new one's are much nicer. But much of the food they carry is the same. They all have fresh fruit and vegetables available along with meat, poultry, and even fish.

I'd have to get your take on healthy food though. I consider fresh fruit and vegetables healthy. And every place has that. They all have meat as well. Even the Maria's market on Cheyenne near Civic Center has that. What really is healthy food?

I live on near Nellis and Desert Inn. Our Albertson's isn't that bad. They remodeled it and have a starbuck's inside now. They offer a fresh deli and such. And have all the basics.

And yes I have been to the one on Civic Center (eastern essentually) and Lake Mead Blvd. That is the shittiest one. They do have less of everything because they are an older smaller store, but they do seem to have all the basics.

The new albertsons are different because they have a lot of special services. Some offer dry cleaning. They have a starbucks inside. They sell books and such. Many have bank branches inside- hell even the one on Bonanza and Eastern has a bank branch I believe.

Some of the smaller mexican markets got busted by having some out of date canned foods. but canned foods stay good long after the expiration date I'm sure.

The biggest problem in my city is the downtown are. But guess what. My city offers bus service from downtown to the Albertsons on Charleston and Bruce. So even the poor living in that neighborhhod has access to a supermarket.

In North Las Vegas they have access to the Vons at Owens and D ST.

The main problem I see is in naked city. The area behind the Stratosphere. They have to go to that shitty Meyer's market on Las Vegas BLVD and Oakey. But even that store carries fresh fruit and vegetables. Just not as much as the supermarkets because they just don't have the room.

I get hunger pains going 6 hours without food.

Am I starving?

And I get real, real bad hunger pains. That is how I gained so much weight. I ate bigger meals to avoid them.

but now I realize that pain is a part of life. If I am to maintain a healthy weight, I have to suffer through them.

Tired of ads?

yes, that is what the original post of the thread stated. I'm getting a little off topic here

What I'm trying to point out is every kid feels hungry from time to time. That is not starvation.

In fact the study I mentioned (I do need to find it to provide proof to you guys) mentioned starvation as going more than 24 hours without food involuntarily I believe.

it has to di with a wosre diet

I also agree that for the most part people should nto be starving in the US

there are a lot of programs to give peopel food

but people still occasionally slip through the cracks

more can be done (and healthy living needs to be encouraged)
