If Bush were to admit that the war is for the direct benefit of Energy corporations such as the Carisle group( A group that his father is tied with ) in Kazahkstan,and the Patriot Act were not his child then I could forgive the falsification of inteligence.

I don't, but Clinton isn't a good example. I'd gladly vote for Clinton again over Bush, if that was the choice I faced. I have no problems voting for a candidate who is less-than-perfect to avoid getting one who is much, much worse.

Some people claim that the treatment of gay soldiers was worse under the Clinton administration (don't ask, don't tell), as well.

But yeah -- Clinton could be the lesser of the two evils.

I seriously doubt that. But there was a lot of abuse of the policy on the part of both the army officials and people seeking to exploit it in order to get out of service.

Clinton's intentions were to end the ban, but thanks to Senator Nunn (see, there's a Democrat I will badmouth) and others he was forced into this compromise, as the political fallout from an instant end to the ban would have crippled the rest of his agenda. He hoped, however, it would at least be an improvement. That's not how it has panned out, and he has stated since that he feels the time has come to drop DADT and just end the ban.

So yeah, gay activists were p.o.'d because they didn't get what they were promised, but again, I doubt the situation would have been better under Bush Sr. You have to accept baby steps towards a goal, and perhaps DADT is just such a step.

I'm not a one-issue voter, so I can put aside my distaste for such politically-motivated moves if I think the guy is doing a good job in other regards and I support his other policies. You cannot deny that Clinton's was the most gay-friendly administration that has ever existed.
