Sorry, got carried away there.
The Day the Earth Stood Still comes to mind.
• First, let's assume that real weapons and ships would actually work, i.e., ship's guns and soldiers would hit targets with some regularity, shields wouldn't fail for plot convenience, etc. In other words, everything Lucas thinks and does, especially the Farce, er, Force, is Hollywood hogwash except for the broad ideas and pretty pictures.
• Second, that coming long ago from a galaxy far, far away means that it is thoroughly lost by some odd sequence of events, trapped in hyperdrive stasis lockout for eons, and no other ships are coming to look for this one (presumably that could all be determined by various records of the events).
• Third, that security protocols (which actually work, see first point) are open to my command by some reasonable circumstances (last humanoid commander set it up to choose a reasonably intelligent, non-psychotic individual to take over command) and can't be revoked from me by cleverer programmers or more devious shysters that will undoubtedly get involved in various ways.
• Now that the doofus factors have been removed, set about hiding the ship behind an asteroid, mining minerals and building an industrial base.
• Shuttle back to Earth and, using precious metals as capital, start a corporation to handle the tech and personnel that will be required to do this right. Initially it will deal with some minor but non-trivial advancement in tech and then buy out Brinks (or an equivalent).
• Find a legitimate and pliable government (several South Pacific islands come to mind) and form an alliance. Set up launch facilities and assemble an aerospace industry sufficiently advanced that there is no real competition (some safe form of fission power comes to mind). Complement this with medical and science facilities to attract the cream.
• The existence of alien technology as a foundation will become known to anybody in the fields of study touched, but the source will not. Share the relevent data (but not the applied tech to make immediate use of it) through peer-reviewed science outlets to minimize the economic shock. Make partners of industries that would be obsoleted to lead in the new techs. Better to have friends than enemies.
• At some point a power play can be expected. Governments will demand through covert channels access to alien tech, threaten legal and criminal entanglements, or even threaten harm upon self or loved ones. That's when the ISD is revealed and The Day the Earth Stood Still-ish scenario unfolds: play along or be removed from the playing field.
Make a small display of power. Publicly and dramatically destroy via orbital firepower mothballed military vessels in USA, Russia, and other countries where such are to be found. Wipe out terrorist camps and stockpiles with mechanized and human troops. Quietly make precision strikes upon highly classified targets, power-hungry politicians' unoccupied vehicles and properties, etc. Make sure the players all get the message.
Slap down the first to step one hair out of line without pity: utterly destroy all military and intelligence assets with just enough restraint and warning to minimize civilian casualties. Use orbital, air, and land forces, then pull out and appoint some neutral person who doesn't want the job to clean up the mess.

Yeah, tell me about the scientific reality of the Q, the Founders, the Borg, transporting people, warp speed, time travel by catapulting around the Sun, time travel period, Spock's rebirth, Genesis...etc, etc.
Give me a break!
