The election will go forward - that is mandated in the Cal. Elec. Code once the recall petition is certified. So the money has to be spent no matter what, and that gets Davis partly off the hook. Smart money now, (from a Dem party strategist view) is to attack Issa to hell and back for forcing this additional expense on the state, because he's a bitter loser.

Poll numbers not too long ago, of rank and file voters, had about 90% of Reps favoring recall of Davis and 50+% of Dems also favoring recall of him. If Davis is out of the way, then the pit bulls can go after Issa and raise the specter of another Simon, while the appointed governor can play "let's take the high road and concentrate on fixing this mess" and since he's the appointed governor, make sure his name is on the ballot, too.

OK, MtG, we are going to have a recall election sometime between Sept. 22 and Oct. 12, the 60-80 window. Davis would be wise to resign and allow another Democrat to run "uncontested" in the recall election. Since he is unwise, the Dems should demand it.

I hate that S.O.B. he is a liar, a cheat, a phony, and a fraud...

Sava; if the ppl really spoke when they voted him last election than why his approval rating some low, lowest in almost 100 years!

I think it has to do with all the BS legislation he has been medling with, as well as the partenering from campeign contributers that has finally come out...

This guy stinks of pearsonal interest... I would rather have you (Sava) running this state then him...

They didn't like Davis, they liked Simon less, and they didn't realize at the time that Davis and his budget office lied about the extent of the pending budget crisis. If Davis had been truthful at that time, it's at least a reasonable possibility that even Simon would have beaten Davis, because people would realize (i.e. Dem voters) that Simon's social conservatism would go nowhere in a Dem controlled legislature, but his fiscal management would go further than Davis's excuse for the same.

At this point, even a majority of registered Democrats want Davis out.

Big Deal... Andrew Dice Clay is more successful than probably 99.99% of Poly Users, should he be our president?

and BTW, Ah-nold made his money saying "I'll be back", and not by being an economics wiz... if you think ah-nold is a good choice to alleviate the budget crisis, show me his plan... and not more stupid claims of "bnllaaahhh arnold is more successful than you so he'd make a great governor"...

Japher: I'm not a Davis fan, but as with Clinton's impeachment, this seems just like another excuse for Republicans to lash out. Show me a candidate, from either party, who has a definite solution to the budget crisis in your state, and I'll withdraw my objection.

It's good to see somebody can present rational information to support the recall, rather than idiotic claims of success comparisons to myself.

BTW, it seems like a lot of the same people bashing Davis for his fiscal policy are the same one's giving Bush a pass on his. (not you though MtG)

Show me a candidate with a solution. Everyone can point out the problem.

I remember the last election where every body wrote Davis off. This guy is a consummate politician and an expert at the smear campaign. Issa has a lot of skeletons in his closet and I'm betting Davis puts a pork chop around his kneck and then sick’s the dogs on him.

It might not save Davis but if one politician can make the other guy look even worse then he is it is Davis.

Very true... I think Issa can even do a better job.

I will say that the budget problem is not entirely Davis' fault even though he made the energy deals that have us paying at least 10 times more for power than any other state... Yet, to see him stand around while the senate attempts to do something when he should be breathing down their throats, to see him slash school funding first of all things, to see him raise car registrations, to see him raise state taxes, while I watch him make big deals with the sheriffs for more prisons that are less needed than power plants and educated children!

I don't mind paying more for power, I don't mind paying more to register my car, I don't even mind the tax increase... Yet, to watch what he spends that money on is shocking, and to watch what he takes it from is horrendous... And, yes, it is all his fault even with national security increases and a failing economy... It is all his fault due to his bad negotiating skills and lack of attention to the job at hand instead of focusing on lobbyist saying you should for run for congress... F' him, but in an 8th grader for all I care, that is a better canidate...

So don't give me this show mje a candidate I already have, I nominate Sava! An 8th grader! Arnold (the pig or actor)! Because I don't really care as long as they bother to do their job, and to do it right, it ain't that hard! +8billion to -80billion says enough for me.

Who will I vote for?

Who is winning in the poles... unless it's Davis, but I am sure that he won't be...

As a voter (were I in California) would I be able to vote NO on the recall, but still validly vote for a successor in case the recall vote succeeds.

I think this is right. On election day I recall that a survey showed that Davis had a 63% disapproval rating - and still he won the election!

I have been a observer, but not a voter, in California elections for a number of years. I don't vote because Republicans continue to nominate completely unacceptable candidates, while the Democrats simply want to build their socialist paradises and kill business.

It would be tragedy if Bill Simon were again to run against Davis. The result would undoubtedly be the same. Davis, the most incompetent and corrupt governor is memory would be re-elected because the Republican was worse.

I think the answer is yes. This is why the Democrats who want to retain or even get rid of Davis will have to vote for a Republican, Independent or a fringe party candidate because the Democrats will not have any candidate in the election. A little bizzare, IMHO.

I would not count on that. Just becasue a few democ-rat leader suggest a boycott does not means other democ-rats will listen to them. All it take is 65 signatures and $3,500 to get on the ballot.
