Your starting log made me think this was a Seed 23 map, but looking at the picture I realize this is Seed 55. The three Fish to the SouthWest threw me off.

Is the water to the east a large lake?

If you took a risk on the hut next to the Settler and got an Archer, you have enough time to Fortify in the Forest, and with the Horse coming up from behind...
(perhaps SG(2) will smile on you...)

2850 = Chariot tips hut, Archer (None), sights irrigation; Americans - ignored

2550 = Warrior sacrifices self to Barb horse so that archer can kill; distant hut reveals supported Archer;
2400 = sell Barracks;
2350 = hut, Bronze Working; start Colossus; Archer 'near to Kyoto'
2100 = destroy American 'civilisation' - because I could RAR ; Barb uprising
2050 = make save and pass the conch ...

* a totally uninspired if rather Rodentian set of turns
* thinks of the long, long corridors at The Institute and shudders

1250BC: Hut = 100g
1150BC: Hut = Trade

1000BC: LF resigns, still far away from Monarchy, but we are now size 4 and 8 turns from Colossus

I'm also up in the Mongol Horde game, which is proceeding s-l-o-w-l-y....

Also, I seem to be getting an error message of some sort when I try to d/l the save, so I may be a little while resolving that. Feel free to skip me to keep the game going

Yes - I am playing OCC - for now - remember this is a bloodlust game not a journey to the stars - we already knew that we were sharing with the Japanese as well as the Americans so the US was not needed for trade purposes - and I felt like wiping them out --- quite possibly a dire strategic move - but it satisfied my blood lust at that moment of time.

I think, though it's not that clear, that our favourite pachyderm was referring to (2) as a sort of benevolent spirit guiding the players of this memorial game.

I would just like to warn the others that if you've got SG (2) on one shoulder to provide you with Hides and Dye repeaters, then you've also got [1] on the other to wipe out potential trading partners and start wars you're not sure you can handle.

I would have taken out the Japs, as the Americans are more civilized and research better, but I cannot see the relative positions so I pass on that. I guess the Japs are Green so they are closer to the bottom of the KeyCiv list, that could be a better reason to keep them around.

Would it not be better to have a less technically advanced civ next-door to you, so that they are less likely to have riflemen when the time comes for us to "relieve them of their oppressive landowner tax burdens". This would be approximately 1750 or so, my friend Nostradamus has told me.
