I've been gone since last Friday. when I returned last night, I got a bunch of pop-unders, but none with gator or other installer prompts. This is acceptable.

About 7:30 this morning, I got the same group of 3 waiting "under" after I posted. Two for match.com, one for ancestry.com. Just got them again (with a 4th = another version of ancestry).

Default-extra special, IE 6.0.

I have no (well, less) objection to pop-unders. Less intrusive, advertisers know I'll view them, and shutting them only takes a sec.

Hmm. Lots of MarkG sightings this week. Off duty?

FWIW, personally, I'd much rather see a poker site than an "issue click"...

Overall, I gotta say this is a big improvement. Pop-unders don't interrupt me. I seem to get them in pairs, usually when I do a search or post. Had one pop-up on top today, but had multiple browsers open, so maybe it just seemed that way.

Anyway -- Kudos, Grand Lord of Apolyton, on finding a reasonably non-invasive ad service.

Has anyone else had pop-ups cause problems for their browser? Specificially the people using AOL.

AOL keeps freezing and crashing because of the pop-ups on Apolyton. This problem just started like 2-3 days ago, it was fine before that.

Five, I think. One popunder on my first page on the site, the main forums page (not my first access of the day, btw). Two more on the next page, then two more on the next one, then one or two pages with no popunders, then the final two.

When I posted this message, I again got one popunder on the main page (second visit to the site today), two when I came to this forum, and one when I clicked to this message.

I get the govalue.homestead, tickle (whatever that is), and the cheaptickets pop up everytime I move in these forums. It's actually starting to get annoying.

Cookie-using time-based code has been added on forums pages to control the frequency that you get popups and popunders.

The various styles settings also have... meaning again as the time between popups is different between the normal, special and ultra special popups(the last couple of months due to the continues changes in our popup code all styles showed the same amount of ads), with the normal styles having bigger time periods between pops

Please note that this a temporary system, we plan to put in a page-based one, e.g. a pop will be shown based on the number of pages that you visit (exact numbers have not been decided)

Any other form of advertising would be better than pop-ups. I hope Markos and Dan will decide to get rid of all pop-up advertising, because it's a very annoying form of ads. All the time spent by Markos on the ads could be used to work on a membership system, or to invent other forms of income. Neutral ads are Google AdSense, ACS Store and other nice banner ads that don't fill your screen with junk, like pop-ups do.

Yeah....I'm kinda hoping that they opt for a system, where everytime I load a new page, my TV set automatically changes to the TV-shop channel
