In old thread, Con had asked if we had let them know about the Spear still being their. I just learned today (after we got the next turn) that they were not told, I guess they wanted to wait to let them know about it during the summit.

Well while we are waiting for the summit, I think we should send them a screenie.

I've just had an idea. We were talking to CFC last night

* E_T will post logs if one of the FAM/Consuls doesn't get to it first....

They are really wanting to get into this war. They are chomping at the bit to help CGN with this war, militarily and also wanting their GA sooner (why, I don't know, but they aren't patient like us).

So, here is the idea (which needs to be tested first to see if it will work):
CGN gifts Siegen to CFC (especially if it has a Barracks)
this is the part that has to be tested
CFC builds an Embassy and gets a RoP from CGN.
CGN then gives them Horses.
CFC then rush builds Horsemen and then gets Iron from CGN and upgrades to Riders.

If anything, the first Horses can help by getting into GWT's way, if they don't want to declare on CFC (to keep them from getting more WW). IT"S Crucial that CFC doesn;t Attack, but to just defend.

This might be a crazy idea, but It needs to be tested ASAP and if possible, presented to CFC before they will send off the next save (atleast before CGN plays next).

Rushing a horseman: 29 shields * 4 gold per shield = 116 gold.

Upgrading a horseman to a rider = 80 gold.

196 gold PER UNIT. Therefore, while I think it's neat that people thought of it, I also think it's a crazy idea.

Not to mention it's yet another weird stretch of the game mechanics.

edit: that being said, it probably is best if CFC's GA is triggered in the not-too-distant future, before the big showdown with GWT. Just not quite yet - don't they still have a bunch of city building/growth to do? Frankly, the idea thing would be for them to nail that GCA spearman with a Rider (which would require some roadbuilding so the Rider could come from beyond the spear's line of sight).

Spearman is gone, it disbanded instead of letting CFC take a shot at getting a GL with an elite Swordsman.

Another idea from the crazy Idea department

CGN gifts a city to CFC, CFC rush builds a Barracks (Mil Trait, so only 20 sheilds), them regifts it back to CGN.

As for the timing of their GA, they know that they still have territory to settle (they stated that they were going to be building settlers / founding new cities shortly.

Even a Horseman or 2 might get into the way of GWT forces enough to delay them a few turns, especially if GWT doesn;t want to declare.

I like the idea of CFC getting involved in the war; but at 196 gold for each Rider, they may have to do with only one or two. If CFC wants to spend 200-400 gold on this, I think it might help CGn just a bit becuase if GWT sees two Rider's they won't exactly know how many are behind it....with that in mind, it might not be a bad idea for us to do the same and get a Knight over there as well. It would throw a monkey wrench into GWT's calculations. It could even slow them down for a turn or two; who knows...

The second idea sounds like a cheat to me; sort of like sharing resources only you are sharing a trait.

And it doesn't have to be riders, just horsemen, a few to block the path of the Mega-SoD(tm). Either that, or GWT can get more WW from attacking them....

The thing I would worry about is we are thinking like Apoly guys not CFC guys.

And I believe it is obvious to all that they are not quite as sophisticated as we are in playing this game.

The way the current poll is going we are on a path to take down GWT a notch or two. It would be nice to have an economically viable partner to do so.

We asked them about that in the joint chat.

We got an answer back to the effect of something like, "We're not." Basically it had something to do with them adding their workers to their cities to create settler pumps and knock out some improvements faster.

We told them they should really take advantage of the opportunity and expand. They said they "know". Other than conquering them, there isn't much we can do to convince/make them REX faster. Perhaps we should just show them the score graph...

A weak CFC really isn't such a bad thing, IMO.

Yes, if they were stronger they could be more help, but if they're stronger they might get delusions of granduer and take a shot at us.

I'm leaving for a week and we desperately need more help on the diplomatic front, especially with CFC.

If anyone is willing to just hang out a few nights a week over at the CFC embassy and chat it up with them, that would do wonders for our communication and for keeping our alliance happy. It would also spare people like E_T and the Consuls from getting sucked into Diplomacy because we don't have anyone around.

Please! Apolyton needs you. Post here if you can give us a just a few nights a week for idle chat and nation-building with CFC.

I suppose me doing a chat isn't all that bad. Especially since it was a productive one.

To summarize:

DZ from CFC said he sent us 120g... but only 80g came. He's 100% sure he sent 120 (has a screenshot and everything) but we've only got 80. So it must be a bug. He's going to send more next turn to make up for it.

The beef of the chat - discussing economics. I ranted and raved about how they shouldn't be building Riders (again), and needed to start doing Settlers, Workers, Granaries, Aquaducts, Markets, yadda yadda. The typical, right? Wrong! I think I finally got through to him. For more details read the log.

Another short chat with DZ.

CFC wants us to give them Education so they can start on 40-turn research on Banking. We both agreed that Democracy was pretty pointless at this time.

I asked DZ if they would be able to send more money (basically, their entire treasury) to assist us in this invasion. He said that they would certainly be able to, and part of that was in requesting that we send them Education.

On a final note, we need to send Silks to CFC. They still haven't gotten them yet...

Oh, and for reference in here, this is the message I sent with the save. I kept it vague on purpose because Mongoose gets these as well and he's a known security risk. The only specific reference is to "finances" and Mongoose already knows CFC is giving us money:

I sent this to Donovan_Zoi at CFC on the 16th and he still has not opened the PM.
