"If you're fiscally responsible, this is not your party."
As opposed to the party that talks about fiscal responsibility while at the same time argues for even more big government spending programs without sufficently raising taxes to cover it.
"If you believe in a moderate foreign policy characterized by alliances, free trade and the ability to operate in an international environment, this is not your party."
If you believe in head stuck in the sand isolationism, the GOP stopped being your party in 1941. If you believe in appeasement and getting a permission slip from France before defending yourself, well then the GOP probably was never your party.
" If you believe in limited federal government, this is not your party."
Because clearly appointing judges who respect the 10th amendment is a bad way to go about it.
"If you believe that the government should stay out of your bedroom, this is very definitely not your party."
If you don't believe in stopping the killing of millions of babies that is going on, and you are so fervent about this issue that it outweighs whatever other reason you were a Republican previously, this is not your party.
But yes, if when sensing the anger rising in your liberal democratic friends, you immediatly fold over and and surrender to their propoganda lest they might consider you unsophisticated, then you will probably leave.
John Kerry is one of Senate's most fervent and hardline liberals, who has consistently pushed for a huge welfare state and a weaker military. If for whatever reason you have seeen the sum of the Republican's beliefs as more appealing then the Democrat's beliefs, you should oppose John Kerry.

You're talking about the Republicans still, right? Because, ya see, the GOP claim to be fiscally responsible, but they've increased government spending by massive amounts in the past years while cutting taxes, with the pretty obvious huge budget deficit to how for it.. How responsible is that?

1941? Try 2001. If that. Remember, this president is the candidate who ran on an essentially isolationist platform of avoiding "nation building." Hmmm, what are we doing now in Afghanistan and Iraq (or at least, attempting to do)?

Or having expanded the powers of the federal government law enforcement agents to wiretap without a warrant, or to seize people's property without them knowing it?

I wasn't aware abortions occured in the bedroom, so I can only think of your answer as a nonsequiter. I think the point here was obviously referring to the GOP's penchant for trying to dicate people's sexual mores through support of anti-sodomy laws and the like.
But regardless of all that, it's funny you missed the point. This wasn't written to support the Dems, just chastise the Republicans. Why is it always either/or, black/white? Unless you're trying to pretend there is absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever with the GOP in their positions or tactics. Are you saying that?
