No dice. So I cheat, look up that you have to go to the water temple, and do the rest of the quest. But he's still outside the diviner's tent! I return to the save before this, although the diviner's still dead, and tried to avoid Lothandar (is this his name?), but it seems that I talked to him, and have saved afterwards. Therefore, I'd like someone to tell me how to remove the poison.
Otherwise, I'll just continue to play NWN, and then return to BGI a little later, playing it through with TUTU, and moving to BGII after this. Hopefully it shouldn't take so long to play now that I know what I'm doing. But I'm still pissed off!

Because of huge mishaps like that I usually have ludicrous amounts of save games as I don't overwrite any. That way I won't have to start from the beginning, in case I mess up. Nor do I kill npcs out on a whim.

Well you do get some experience if you talk to him long enough and then he wanders off saying something like you're boring and talk too much - you could kill him then i guess.

Interesting. I was never poisoned, even though the guy said I was poisoned. So I'm not sure what do to

I'm sure there's a way to cheat. You just have to find the item code for the special antidote.

Do a search for "GateKeeper"- that has the item codes, etc. it's a useful application.

Jamski recommended it to me in an earlier BG thread

How would you suggest silencing him?
(by the way, I already killed him sadly, and have to be careful when entering Beregost because that killing led to several others that my characters are now ashamed of )

I just use Gatekeeper to change profeniencies/thief skills. Some of those profs are just crazy for what they start out with. And I'd rather take a thief because I like their personality over what skills they start out with.

It doesn't reduce your stats or anything. You're fine for the 10 days that Lothander gives you, but after that time has passed, then you get a message in the text box and it's game over. Er, my last save is only a couple of minutes away from that.....

Would it be downright evil of me to use Gatekeeper to put the Eagle bow into my pack too?
Also, although I don't have the BGII expansion, whose name I forget for a moment, I'm tempted to hack in the pantaloons too.

* duke pulls on his Cloak of Non-rah-detection.

CRAP!

I just looked at the list of items that you can use Gatekeeper to put into the game and there is no cure. It seems that you are cured of the poison by talking to both Lothander and his partner (Marek?), and you never actually receive a physical remedy that I coul;d put into the game. That means that that particular game is effectively buggered, and although it was lots of fun, I still wish I could keep playing it.
I'll take a NWN holiday, and then install Tutu, the Tutu tweaks and BGII (not necessarily in that order ) and then start all over again.

there has to be a way. Are you saying Lothander and Marek are dead?

Even if they are, there are certain conversation flags the gatekeeper uses. You see this alot in Baldur's Gate 2. I've used them to get the romances working. It might be best to ask someone more familiar with using it though. I try to avoid using gatekeeper and related programs.

No, both of the characters who hold the two parts of the cure are still alive, but since the diviner is dead, then I can't talk to him and then talk to Lothander to get him to move to whichever inn it is he goes to and advance the plot. I can get him his geas, but he won't accept it because he hasn't moved from outside the diviner's tent.

Should I ask on the Bioware forums, or just give up the ghost and start again in a month or two. With Tutu, and two katanas!

I have found and downloaded the patch, so maybe my girlfriend might let me visit Candlekeep once more this evening. How does the dual-wield work in BGII? You don't get the abilities like in NWN so you can't give yourself ambidextrous and 2 weapon wield or something to improve your THACO with them.
Is a kensai with 2 swords just silly? I'm also tempted by a swashbuckler type with a decent rapier-style sword and the poison dagger you can get in Beregost. That would be loads of fun to roleplay!

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

You can put weapon profs in Two-weapon fighting, as you do with longsword or shortbow. You need 3 *s in two-weapon-fighting to be really good.

Aha! Well, that won't take too long. Do I also need to put stars in the weapon types to be any good? With the swashbuckler example above, I'd need 3 stars in 2-weapon, 3 in longsword and 3 in dagger.

Suffering from ads?

there are certain conversation flags that can "advance" conversations. I think the gatekeeper or shadowkeeper (I can't remember which goes to which game) discusstion board. I'll direct you there. They might know more.

just register and ask there. They probably can find a solution.

I think I will finally start BG over the next week or so. I have both games, and both expansions, and plan to use tutu. Looking through the manual of Sword Coast it looks more like a tack on expansion than a key part of the overall saga. Given that gaming time will take a dive soon (at present I am doing a Jamski because I have no job for a couple of weeks ) I'd like some opinions on whether to bother with it.

It's an interesting dungeon. esp. if you are thief who likes traps .

total time for BG + BG2 + TOB is over 150 hours I'd say but if you skip some subquests, it could be a lot shorter. Some people skip many quests and head straight to spellhold. And some people don't even go to the Suhuagin city in BG2 (there are two options to get to the underdark, I think one of them bypasses this city).

Got spare money?

I rather liked Tosc tbh... First of all it patched the game so it was a lot easier to use and secondly there's some rather challenging fights that need a different approach than the traditional creatures require ( that greater werewolf isn't easy meat with that huge regeneration rate )

About the duration; it depends not only on the amount of quests you do, but also they way you play. If you're one of those people who like to know everything, read everything, explore all areas etc, talk a lot and so on the game lasts considerably longer.. Many dialogue is not needed in order to advance in the game but is nevertheless interesting, and can be quite time consuming, especially if you need some time to grasp what's going on all around ya. And I'm one of those ppl btw
