WTF Jamski?
Well we're into the city. I've done quite a few of the baby quests, but nothing too hard yet. I haven't been to see Scar, because I imagine that'll be quite tough. I've got loads of cool spells, but unfortunately aren't at a high enough level to use them all.
I also haven't been into the sewers yet. I ****ed up the first thief guild quest, which wasn't bright, but only because I picked the wrong option to say as a result of my being distracted (*cough* pissed).
Also, rather curiously, even before I went into BG (as in, my last save beforehand), my reputation had plummeted to 12. I have no idea what high jinks caused me to lose all of this, because I haven't been going round stabbing people in public or anything, but I still went down to average and ended up spending too much cash getting back up to a more respectable level. I've done a couple of easy quests with bonus rep points, but need more. Any recommendations?
And before anyone asks, no I didn't accept Viconia into the party four times.
Other than that, I spent ages yesterday playing the IWD demo that I got free with BGII. It's a nigh identical game to be honest, but is good fun. However, I thought that you could get some of the NPCs in the first town to join you, which you can't. Then I had to open up the character menu and create some more. And it would appear that if you die, then you can just create a new character to replace each one that you've lost. Not that I've needed to so far, but I'm off to Shadow Vale of whatever it's called, and the more difficult monsters may make a difference.

Jammi Having fun with fundie religion vs DnD. Thats like, SO 1980's, aint it?
POTM and her two best friends from SYNAGOGUE have an RPG going that theyve made up - its vaguely DnDish, but closer to just playing make believe - they have special powers, planes, power objects but dont roll dice or have a formal DM. Theyve drawn in several synagogue kids, all of whom continue to be good Synagogue kids. Only real problem is when she posts to her friends webboard based on this game, instead of doing here homework. But then we can all sympathize with THAT
Oh and she HAS asked about the part of Torah that bans witchcraft - as a Harry Potter fan that troubles her. Had to look it up in my copy of "Everymans Talmud". it turns out its by no means simple, some things we would call occult (like astrology) were accepted by the Talmudic rabbis, while other things werent. Its a question, as always, of interpretation. It served as a nice launching pad, for the question of interpretation. I'll have to find more midrash (rabbinic interpretavive texts) on the subject to discusss with her.
It would be very interesting to see a game based on Jewish/kabbalistic magical traditions, but Im not counting on it. Maybe it could be done in NWN. I dont know enough of that stuff to add much, myself. I do notice that PS:T mentions a plane called "gehenna", the Jewish hell/purgatory. Not sure if thats an import from Pnp DnD.
