Ok... my server is called Folderol, and don't bother visiting if you have no idea of pythonesque humour... I just got builder status so in the next weeks some of my work will be there for the population to explore. Its a social/adventure/rp persistant world - its the Sim City of CRPGs - you can't "win", but you can get stronger, find new areas etc...

Its actually like a 3d forum, with some monsters to mash when its getting quiet *grins*

Anyway, search up Folderol and pay a visit. The server is off right now to upload the new maps, but it will be around soon. If you get on there now, you'll have a hardy character by the time the DM spectacular comes on Sunday (twice weekly events)

Before you visit - its an "in character" server so don't try and make your elf ranger talk about pizza or 'poly... and you'll need SoU, HotU and the Community Expansion Pack (CEP)

Might see some of you there *waves and smiles*

I would. It really rounds the game out into what it always should have been - also nearly every server is running HotU, so you kinda need it to play online.

I have a character over there now. Distrock Phin. A dwarven barbarian. yes I do have a biography explaining such an unusual combination. Although it's not that unusual.

Don't have much time to play tonight. Just created my character and killed a few pixie things. There was only one other character. So no team action for me.

I wish I read about the new voices and pics before I created my character. I would have liked to choose from new voice and picture sets.

The subraces seem kind of interesting as well. I may try them later. Like Yanti.

Do you need a serial number? Most games would run with the CD in a drive.

I'm not the DM, just a builder. You need a legal copy of NWN, SoU, HotU and a downloaded copy of the Community Expansion Pack. You'll also need the latest patch. But this is standard for most servers.

Then in the game press multiplayer, internet game, give your name you want to be known as and Gamespy lists all the servers currently running. Then find Folderol (I think its under "persistant world social" or maybe "persistant world adventure" but you can list alphabetically) then press join, create a character and play.

Its the same as on any public server.

Just found it, and joined (as a human fighter). Tried fighting some skellies, got my ass kicked. Going to restart with a new character soon. Once I do that, I'll post the name here. Probably going to be another fighter. Maybe a combat-oriented cleric.

there are lots of secret doors. It's hard getting to every area.

I went over to that fairy place. I was looking for some elf or something.

Those things I can take on by myself (dwarven barbarian). But they can be a little hard to hit.

Money is real scarce so far. But that's okay. I'll have to stick with my trusty handaxe.

I'm just about done with Poly, I think I'll head over there soon. Distrock Phin is my name. Hopefully I can find more people.

Rejoined as "Reidmar the Mediocre", a human Fighter. Didn't bother to differentiate the character much from the default Fighter, hence the "Mediocre."

Currently, I'm in Gobwood, or wherever the first place you land off the ship is called.

okay you were Reidmar. We were partied together.

Some of those monsters are damn tough. Especially if you are only second level. I was 4th level at the time. A very maxed out dwarven barbarian. str 18, dext 14, const 16, int 10. I eventually took Iron will feat to help out my will saves a little. My wisdom is only 8

I didn't see the noob area at first- which actually might be a little tough for a level 2 character. But I guess you were supposed to explore that first. I eventually did it. Although I think some of the encounters seem scaled to the level of your character. When I was going solo in the fire beetle caves- at first I was getting those fire beetle workers, and then when I went in those caves again for that quest I was getting fire beetle warriors- only 1 though. And he was still very easy. The newb areas I saw rattle snakes, lots of different types of goblins (that first area is a bit scary with all the traps- the caves are easy though). And then some spiders and ghouls/skellies in the cave.

The first area I went into was that fairy area and then the area with the nettles. It wasn't until much later did I find the quest associated with them. But they are easy to kill for a warrior. And have good experience. Even at level 6 I am now they give like 60 exp.

I have pretty good gold now because of collecting herbs. But I picked up a ton of items in that noobe gardens area. I actually don't have anything to spend it on. I have the best armour I can find and the best weapon and shield I can find. Although I'm thinking about those dwarven hammers. I may buy one and get rid of the shield. I haven't decided what type of weapon I want to specialize in (I haven't take any weapon specialization type feats)

Anyways Reidmar, I did go back to Elf Mire again. This time I actually followed the road- which I should have did last time . Those dire oxes or whatever they were kicked my ass. And I couldn't find the exit. Being a barbarian I can outrun most monsters. But I went the wrong way on my map and hit a dead end.

I talked to the elven lutist and gave him the tooth I had (I think I got it from someone in the gypsy village). He gave me an item to take to the fairies. The fairies then sent me to the woman who will buy herbs in that nook. She then sent me to get some crystallized stuff from those fire beetle caves (which I did finish exploring). I did that. I still didn't go down to the next level. Those ants seemed impossibly tough. I didn't get a single hit in before I died. Then went back to the nettle area. and Captured the burglar. After that I explored the noob area some more.

I did kill one of those dire oxen. But they still hit hard. I don't want to take on 3 at a time. Even those ogres hit hard. I did also explore some ogre (friendly ogre) caves as well. Theres a ogre who will sell things.

I have explored many areas, but from what the map looks like on the website, this is a huge world.

Um, yeah. 45MB of updates. I bought the game pretty soon after it came out and it shows. At leasts it's fast, 40% in 2 minutes .

The dire ox are the WEAK spawns in that area

There's a DM game on tommorrow, be there or be rectangular.

And yeah, its pretty huge, and gets at least one new set of maps each week at the moment.

There's bits I've never seen.
