Actually, there's a nice way to script special events based on your individual character. I can make a trigger that checks for the name of your god, so if you name your god "XX67hdglhs9!" only you will meet a check for that name. And then gives you 20,000,000,000 gold *grins* or set the shopkeepers to "hostile" *frowns*

It is my imagination or is HotU much easier than SoU? I just waltzed through the big fights at the end of chapter 1 with my kickass fighter buffed by Deekin and supported by Tomi.

I guess it could be that SoU was the first NWN game I had played, and I goofed by stopping Dorna taking cleric levels, but it really does seem easier. I used my character from SoU as instructed, and he was only level 13 to begin, which is right for this game.

Pfft. I'm playing a Cleric, remember?

I just cast "Find Traps" and "ZING!" all of those nastry traps in a room full of traps go bye-bye!

Furthermore, having the Protection from Elements spell up on all of my party members means that the occassional trap doesn't hurt so much (though I'd rather it not wear down those shields).

So far, I've found the game pretty easy... I've just made it to Level 2 of the Undermountain dungeon. I've been travelling with Deekin and Sharwyn so far, though I rescued Daelan as well (just haven't spent the money yet to give him a bunch of cool equipment like I have with Deekin and Sharwyn).

I wouldn't waste money on him. Unless you plan on using him. You're going to need some of that money for later. It gives you more options. Plus there are some cool things you can buy in chapter 2- and 3.

I agree. No spoilers but there is something you'll want oodles of cash for, and I found that spending money on items (always very expensive compared to what you get for loot) wasn't always a great choice when better items were often just around the corner for free.

The traps issue is why I always play as an Elf. The ability to search constantly while moving at full speed, and not having to activate search, AND getting a +4 to search rolls, means spotting most traps automatically as you walk about. And you can laugh at the silly humans stopping to search for traps every 10 yards.

There is some seriously über loot to be found in the later chapters. Be prepared.

Mmmm..... loot.

I'm dying to play NWN now. Shame I'm at work. And that there's footie on telly all the time. But maybe I'll get a chance this weekend. I can't play on-line with my rubbishy Freeserve connection, but I wouldn't dare anyway until I'd had a chance to try out my lack of skill in single-player. And I've still got BGI and II awaiting completion. Aargh!

Why not just wear the helmets that increase your spot, listen, and search checks? That seems to work pretty well, since I've spotted almost every single trap in the game so far.

Actually, I haven't been using search mode at all and I still spot all of the secret doors and traps. Those helmets really do help a lot.

You do get a percentage of your full search skill whilst not in search mode. With good equipment you can spot many traps.
