quote: Should someone be prosecuted for saying "Go and kill white people"? - i just dont think they should, its a slippery slope once you go down that path(which we already have in the UK). |
no they get £1000s in benefits and a police escort to go and preach their hatred, like the charming fellow in EK's picture.
i watched the show last night, it was good enough but didn't do much more than state the obvious, 'the BNP in racist thugs shocker!!'
but one thing did catch my attention, they talked about a case of asian men praying on young white girls (had to do with drugs and the like) in keighly, the BBC went to great lengths to say that both white and asian men had been suspected in those cases. however i'm pretty sure that it was these incidents that channel 4 made a program about a couple of months ago, where the program makers made basically the same claims that the BNP had been making (albeit in a far less extreme manner), the program was never aired (it may be aired later this year) because of fears it would 'spark racial tension'. makes you wonder doesn't it...

I agree. They could do similar on any political party and find "activists" and "members" saying some things with which the party does not agree.
|
You'd be far better off judging the party on its members, and not its manifesto. Only the naive would think that a party would stick to its manifesto when in power, and that it is not merely a ploy in the case of any party to gain popularity. To test someone, you put them in power, that gives their true colours an opportunity to shine through, and the BNP's are brown.
Furthermore, no-one is denying that there is political correctness at work here, and it makes me uncomfortable. One is far better-off attacking the BNP for its members, history, politicies, actions and intentions instead of a quota for positive discrimination. The BNP and its bedfellows need to understand that they have woefully flawwed arguments and an inept understanding of politics, ethics and history, as well as a number of people, the prospect of who's coming into any power puts the fear of god into me, and that the "liberal-left" of people who actually think about such things and understand the danger of the nationalists/fascists has plenty more to attack them with than censorship, ad hominem and inconsideration - traits that on paper are exclusive to the fascists and populists themselves! I think we should address the BNP, their arguments, their history, their demographic and the reasons why a few people feel so compelled to vote for them, and that needs to be dealt with by the media. I believe that would be a far more effective means of turning the public rightfully against the BNP instead of painting them as a collection of beer-swilling, slack-jawwed, unintelligibly simple minded lager louts. Of course that description fits many of its supporters but unfortunately their threat and potential doesn't stop at the pub doors, as we have seen so many times before in history .

Laz, it was the two who admitted to actually commiting a crime, simply dreaming of commiting one is not illegal, although Nick Griffin did say on newsnight that he thought the 3rd was up before a tribunal, and was likely to be kicked out...
Gibsie, actually, i did watch both the documentry and the newsnight interview, and my comments were directed at the newsnight interview. Quite how you can know what I did or didn't do is beyond me ?? you could simply say you didn't think what I had said bore out in the documentry, and i could have told you why.
To address the issue of Nick Griffin having the balls to say what he thinks, well, again, I was refering to the newsnight interview !! he claims (and you take his claim at whatever value you please) that these guys were planted by socialist worker (or some socialist anti-nazi group), he also claimed that the BBC journalist (who denies this) got one guy drunk to get him to say what he said ..
I have no time whatsoever for the BNP and what it believes, those who know me, know I am married to an Indian, and that I spend a lot of my time in India, but I defend their right to say that Islam is evil .. even if I think they are wrong. I do not support the right to wish to kill people, thats different completely .. but Nick Griffin did not say he wanted to kill Pakistani's, he wanted to rid britain of Islam through deportation .. that in itself is a pipe dream, and would be a complete disaster .. but simply saying it is not illegal...
I am more than happy for people to judge the BNP by what they say, but let them say it, and let them discredit themselves .. cencorship will only increase there support, and I think that is very dangerous indeed .. its only when you hear what they have to say, that you realise how unelectable they are.

Do you think that absolves someone automatically from possesing a racist mentality?
Note: this is not about you, it's a general question.

I see. The ones of little importance. Somehow I thought that might be the case.

That's not what he said at all. Are you sure you watched it?
He linked the alleged paedophile drug rapes in Keighley with quotes from the Koran, stated that Islam effectively encourages such acts to non-Moslems, and said that anyone who had children would, unless they acted, see Moslems "do for them".
And that, you have to admit, is rather more severe.

In the 1950's their forefathers were banned outright, and it gained them no support. If you think there should be no restrictions on speech, try shouting "Fire!" in a packed theatre.

Gibsie, Ok, yes your right, I did not specify what I was quoting in the orginal post.. sorry. However, please .. don't let it spoil your day !! Were all friends here .. right ??
Paiktis ha ha .. actually, you are quite right, there was a case recently where a chap was planning to kill muslims, and he was married (or living with) a chinese lady .. I think there is a difference though between racial hatred in general, and the hatred of particular groups !! a bit like some people I know who hate Britain
Being a nationalist doesn't mean you have to be from any particular race though, and I think thats a trap which you can catch the racist in, by seeing if they accept the patriotic black or asian into their fold !!
I did hear one BNP supporter mouthing it off about the locals speaking Gujarati .. this coming from a Bradford based councillor/hopeful .. where the local muslim's speak Urdu .. ha ha ha .. oh well.. but its that kind of complete ignorance which scares me about these people, they say they hate muslims, but then it becomes obvious they couldn't tell the difference between a muslim or a hindu, nevermind a sikh ..
I actually think the BBC should take Nick Griffin's offer of a 30minute program about the Qaran (and why he thinks its evil), and invite a few respected Imam's on live TV.. ha ha ha .. something tells me he wouldn't take the offer up.

You wasted precious seconds of your life on typing that. It states the obvious no fewer than four times, and has absolutely no relevance to the point I made- namely that censorship does not automatically result in increased support.
|
Sorry, don't debate with me when I'm stoned Censorship won't automatically result in increased support but it won't assist those of us who are trying to critique that support. If it's illegal, it makes ones argument sound academic, and yet, it may still spread. I'd much rather it was in the open.
quote:
The reason BBC won't do Griffin On The Koran, is because it would give him extra political support. A lot of this country dislikes the way Muslims and their ilk are hijacking our political process, our culture, and our benefits system.
|
"Our benefits system" is the governments problem as it does not allow asylum seekers to work. How many other white people take advantage of the benefits system? You need to seriously revise your thinking before you associate Islam with benefit fraud.
Our culture? They've added to it over hundreds of years and I see it happening now, when unaffected by the hostility of people like the BNP, whereupon cultural creativity becomes dualistic sociological hostility.
Our political process? I think you need to explain that one? You *honestly* think that Islam represents any threat to british democracy, except by the reactionist measures employed by nationalists and their likeminded?
Furthermore I think you should stop referring to this "lot of the country" "majority" "silent majority" BS that you cannot substantiate and I'm willing to bet are unrepresentative of in any case, and yet you still have provided me with no reason for it to be used as a source of contextual political truth upon which to run a society in the first place!!

Hijacking 'our' culture (hilarious really, from the person whose culture can best be seen in the Poly poster picture thread of him in Greece looking like chavscum) ?
Has Westminster Abbey been turned into a mosque and Eton become a medressa?
Is the Queen going to the state opening of Parliament in a flowing chador or enveloping burqa?
Have you been forced to watch Morris Men dancing in shalwar kameez?
Has Last Night of the Proms been replaced with Bhangra Boyz Boogie from Edgbaston hosted by Bally Sagoo?
Oh no, the Pakis have stolen that well known British cultural cuisine icon, chicken tikka masala, and are even now plotting to own all the Indian take aways!
What is the 'ilk' of the Muslims?
More to the point, are you incuding all Muslims, the way, say, you might if you took Obi Gyn as a paradigm for a Christian in politics?
But more importantly- what Class A drugs are you taking that enable you to spew such ill-informed inflammatory sh!te all the time?

Barclays Bank bans BNP accounts
Reporter Gwynne (l) filmed BNP leader Mr Griffin (r) covertly
Barclays Bank has frozen the accounts held by the far-right British National Party.
The move is believed to be in response to a BBC documentary, The Secret Agent, which showed BNP members confessing to racially motivated crimes.
The bank has not confirmed the decision but the BNP's John Walker said he had received a call from the bank informing him that the accounts are to be closed.
BNP leader Nick Griffin said the move was "absolutely scandalous".
Mr Walker said that he was unaware whether any other banks that hold party funds would follow suit.
But Mr Griffin said the party may find it difficult to open accounts with other banks.
He described the move by Barclays as an "attempt to ban it by the back door".
He said a member of the party's treasury department was informed about the freezing of their accounts on Friday afternoon.
The legal position of the account closures will be studied, he added.
"If we can, we will take them [Barclays] to the cleaners.
Human rights
"We don't want to take them to the cleaners, all we want is the democratic right to access back accounts."
He said: "Barclays may find themselves up against European human rights legislation.
"We have the right to hold political opinions and to impart them."
Mr Griffin said the accounts contained thousands of pounds - "enough money to run a small but effective political party".
The party must have a bank account in Britain to comply with electoral commission regulations.
A Barclays spokeswoman said the company would not comment because of client confidentiality.
However, a bank official said Barclays would consider whether there was a "reputational risk" when it was deciding whether to open or close an account.
Tapes reviewed
In the documentary, footage recorded at a meeting in Keighley shows Mr Griffin saying Islam was a "vicious wicked faith" and warning the audience to "stand up" to Muslims.
In an interview on BBC Two's Newsnight programme following Thursday's broadcast of the documentary, Mr Griffin refused to say sorry for his comments and added the "Islamification" of the West had partly happened by rape.
However, he did apologise for comments made by other BNP activists shown on the documentary confessing to race crimes. Three of them have been expelled from the party, Mr Griffin said.
Reporter Jason Gwynne spent six months infiltrating the BNP's West Yorkshire branch with the help of a former local organiser.
West Yorkshire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service, in a joint statement on Friday, said officers were collecting tapes from the programme makers to review.
"The BBC programme (Secret Agent) broadcast last night raises a number of issues which warrant further investigation.
"Working with our colleagues in the Crown Prosecution Service we will be reviewing the material to identify what, if any, information of evidential value it contains and decide on the appropriate action."
|
Hur hur hur.
As far as the bank account closures go, the BNP haven't a leg to stand on. Banks have the right to choose who they conduct business with and can unilaterally close accounts on 30 days notice.
