Put an end to popups!

The thing is, it's not like anyone would have known Barclays held the BNP's accounts ir would bother about it. It's not really very sensible this from Barclays either.

Now I'm thinking back to last summer when I issued a few Barclaycards to the BNP, including to a Mr Nicholas Griffin

Likely a probe in the BNP, or maybe they make direct-debit payments. I think it is sensible, the bank as a business has to protect its reputation. If you run a bank, would you allow such people to open an account? Furthermore it is the banks perogative.

If it hasn't then the bank in question would be acting in breach of several laws that could land its directors in jail for up to 14 years. If you're trying to make some point about hypocrisy, try thinking it through before posting.

This thread makes great reading for anyone interested in the issue of censorship. The fact is that we live in a censored society. It's just a question of where you feel the line should be drawn.

I think if you're coming at it from a utilitarian point of view, at least a more classical interpretation, then the BNP would be the first group to be censored full stop. I, however, am not coming at it from that point of view.

Well we saw BNP Councillors discussing bomb-making, conspiring to criminal acts of arson and crimes of violence. If the bank has reasonable grounds to suspect that funds under their control are being used for criminal purposes then the law obliges them to act.

"Sensible" is acting as they have.

You don't think their private beliefs affect the party at all? If someone is in a party which does not represent their views, then we can assume they either want alcohol or power, and neither are particular healthy, even without considering the nature of their private views in the first place!

The fact that party policy supports religion? The effect becomes more pronounced the more extreme the party becomes. I, for example, would not inflict the consumption of tuna sandwiches and cognitive relativism on the nation if I came to power, whereas people like the BNP, I wouldn't be so sure about. I can tell you, it won't be relativism and it certainly won't be cognitive .

No. They were BNP Councillors when they made the statements indicating conspiracy.

And, lest we forget, there are two convicted terrorist bombers in the BNP National Executive.

What, you mean groups like the Christian Socialists for instance?

It's not like they're a new development:

http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/REsocialism.htm

They've been there since the very beginning- but then you probably think Keir Hardie was a chubby American comedian.

I'm puzzled as to what you were studying at university- applied gormlessness with subsidiary macrame, or advanced ignorance with offensive behavioural studies?

Economics.

I also did a module in Political Theory which took up 20 credits of the 240 in which I was assessed.

Looks like Laz must be struggling to find details about money laundering, paedophilia, etc - strange, I had assumed his sources regarding political criminality would have been quite complete.

If you can point out any other party with a similar proportion of criminals among their National Executive and policy-makers, I'll happily denounce them.

Good luck.
