In that respect, you are correct. I want my kids to THINK about things, and make up their own mind instead of automatically going with the crowd or tradition.

Sure I do... and I will try my best to give them my POV and the logic behind it. But as much as I would like to think I'm always right... I'm not... I want them to be able to see the multiple sides of any argument, and to make up their own minds. While we agree on some issues, we also disagree on many, and I respect that, as long as they can support their positions.
