In all seriousness, no matter who won, I'm very happy that we were able to have a president who carries the majority of the vote and that turnout was very high.

Yeah, partisian politics have been a great boon for getting Americans to own up to their responsiblity to vote.

I'm actually kinda proud of the partisian uprisings, at least now people are putting some passion into their politics. Death to political correctness!

Since Rehnquist's a reactionary, his leaving his post won't matter much, except to see Scalia heading the Court.

It's in the 120 million range. Very high. We already have 113 million counted, not including the provisional ballots and some absentee ballots.

One thing that I'm noticing on cnn.com is that more Democrats voted for Bush than there were Republicans who voted for Kerry.

In Pennsylvania, 14% of Democrats polled said they voted for Bush, but 11% of Republicans said they voted for Kerry. In Ohio, 9% of Democrats went for Bush... only 6% of Republicans went for Kerry. CA: 12% of Dems went for Bush, 9% of Repubs went for Kerry.

That's typically the case. There are more conservative Democrats than liberal Republicans.

Common wisdom was completely wrong about this election. The main reason why is that the party distribution was about even, rather than the Dems having their traditional 4 poing lead. The question is, does this represent a fundamental shift in the electorate since 9/11, or a temporary aberration? I wrote 2002 off, but I have to wonder how many more cycles this pattern will last.

Well, I'm ****ing depressed. Southern Comfort ain't much comfort.
