Most votes, not greatest percentage, Spiff. Doesn't really mean much due to population growth. The fact that he was the first president in 16 years to be re-elected by a majority of the voting population is pretty impressive, though.

Guess that's why you guys are being trained to sit down when you pee then, right? To make you more sane? God knows that couldn't hurt, given past experience...

Kerry should be a man and concede. But then again, this crap is par for the course with him and the party these days.

The hold-your-nose-and-vote-for-Kerry didn't pay off. Oh well. A Kerry Vote in Indiana where I live is a wasted vote anyway, I knew that going in.

Now we can see what the repubs can do for another 2 years in full control of the system. Will we get a draft? Will Osama bankrupt the country? Will we hemorhage decent jobs? Who knows. Maybe Bush can get this thing turned around.

I'm just glad that my job, as a defense attorney is safe, if not even more secure by his re-election.

The dems need to start caring about people outside the large cities, I think. Work on the grassroots. Unfortunately when one side can explain their position on an issue in 2 words and the other in 2 pages, well, its difficult to be hopeful.

I voted for Kerry, but owe my allegiance first and foremost to my country. Bugger all.

I will say that I am quite pleased that my (somewhat distant) cousin took the Missouri Sec. State position, as well as another (somewhat distant) cousin taking a US House seat from the STL area.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

With 78 of 88 counties in Ohio reporting the number of provisionals to count, the total of uncounted votes is standing at 135,000. Kerry is behind by about that amount. The best Kerry can count on is about 90% of these being valid. This would put Kerry in the position of needing nearly 100% of the uncounted votes to have a chance. Mathmatically possible, but EXTREMELY improbable.

State law says that absentee and provisional ballots can not be counted for 10 day after the election. The reason is to allow all those ballots to reach the polling stations after they have been mailed. If they counted what they have now then they would ignore the votes of people who mailed their ballots in just the last few days.

Do you honestly think Kerry will get 130,000 votes from the provisional ballots? It'd be nice, but that's dreaming.

Not in the next 4 years we won't.

Fortunately, thanks to Bush, by the time we get our crap together, there will be no US hegemony anymore to challenge
