the thing i find funny is the idea that if something isnt 100% effective, we need to teach something unrealistic and ineffective.

Its comes down to the want of some people to impose their moral ideals about sex on other people. Life doesnt work on ideals alone.

What can be wrong about exploring your own body? Uhh... now THOSE are some issues. Knowing about it doesn't mean someone turns into sex maniac. More likely it means that they get a healthy relationship with their own sexuality and they don't have to molest little kids in the future to get off.

It's fine to urge people to obstain until marriage but most people won't so we need some sort of education which teaches young people about pragnancy, periods, proper use of birth control, and disease prevention. Refusing to do that is like closing your eyes and pretending problems don't exist.

Interestingly, Eastern European is about the only Euro blood I don't have. Heck, I even have Viking blood if one goes back far enough. My Viking ancestors were Normans who conquered Normandy, then invaded England, and subsequently Ireland.
