Oh for ****'s sake!
It's doing it to me again! Four different saved games, within ten minutes of each other, all of 'em deeply ****ed. I haven't yet tried the next oldest one, about an hour and a half in the past. Doesn't sound like much, but I don't get much time to play thanks to my work situation.
I'm just gonna wait for a patch and hope it helps.
Dammit, I KNEW LucasArts would **** me again.

I'm sorry, but even if you got your game to work, you've already been ****ed - with the ending. Probably because of time constraints (to get the game done for Christmas for the XBox, as pressured by LucasArts) the original, great ending to the game couldn't be finished in time and was replaced with a bunch of short, uneventful, trite crap.
Spoilers abound, but people have been able to fish out parts of the original axed ending from the game files, read more here.
Now I'm just trying to make myself think I never even saw the game ending.
Edit: Whoa, I found a way better page that has it all compiled. And it seems they axed a whole lot of other stuff too mid-game to streamline the ending. Maybe several hours of gameplay! Stuff like
spoiler(highlight to read): HK-47 apparently takes the fight back at the HK-50 -series by attacking and destroying the factory that is pushing them out! Wow. I was severely disappointed with the limited guest star role he had in the retail version.
And an explanation why the force bond between the Exile and Kreia is severed endgame (as you obviously do not lose HP when Kreia does).

Still, it seems to me from my perusal of forums that game-crashing bugs in the console version of Kotor2 are not that common, especially considering the massive size of the game. It's a general rule that the bigger a game, the more likely it is that there will be bugs. I can't think of a bigger game than Kotor2.
And I've encountered such bugs in other console games. Not often, true, but they are there. No game is bug-free.
