Mother.

****er.

This mother****ing game is crashing whenever I try to load a game.

Can't load my quick save. Freezes half way through the load.

Can't load my auto save. Freezes at about 95% through the load.

I could load my other save, which is about fifteen minutes into the freaking game.

Goddammit, I've made it through the mining station, Citadel, Telos, Dantooine, and was making good headway through Nar Shardaa when this happened. Is there anything I can do?

I don't recommend using the W key to move in KOTOR. Press and hold both mouse buttons and just move the mouse in the direction you want to go. It's just that easy.

I'm starting to get a hang of the mouse now. I'm used to Morrowind where you can control the speed.

Tired of ads?

speaking of speed, if you need to walk (and rarely do you need to) hold be b key down (this is in KOTOR2- I can't remember which key it was in kotor1). It seems annoying, but really, there is no reason to walk. The only time I did it was around mines, so I wouldn't accidently run over them. My first time through I had no skill in demolotion, and there are times you go through alone.

It'ss the "b" key in KOTOR also.

I think I should make a KOTOR thread to keep the two games seperated.

You should. You know who is in a movie because they use actors to sell movies. The actors aren't used to sell the game, the story sells the game. If you really want to know, search it yourself .

You can learn from this. Sorry, but that's all I can offer. Computers screw up sometimes, and I've had this happen to me back with Fallout 1. Its a PITA and I never wanted it to happen again. Now I make a new save each time I save. I finished KOTOR 2 with 32 saved games. I do the same working on a music project, a big .doc or a NWN mod. Save often, save in lots of files. You can always clean up afterwards.

I ended up with about 36 save games my first time through .

and about 16 my second time through.

You should make an initial save on each planet you arrive on. I've also heard of problems in the caves on Korriban when you face the test. Make a save before you enter there and don't save over it.

the game never crashed on me.

But it did sometimes slow down after about 4 or 5 hours of play. I just exit the game and re-enter. problem solved.

I also encountered the problem most people were having with skipped dialogues. Especially with T3.

I was unaware that you had some sort of psychic connection to my Xbox.

I encountered no bugs at all in the game. I did find one exploit, but that's different.

All Xboxes are the same. I encountered a lot of bugs playing KOTOR2 on my Xbox. Ergo, it is just as buggy on all Xbox's, even though through chance you may have managed to avoid them.

I didn't say it was bug-free, just that I never encountered any. So it ran perfectly on my Xbox, which is why your statement denying that was funny.

However, your conclusion isn't logically valid. Unless you knew the number bugs in the PC version and were able to compare it to the Xbox version, the statement that it is "just as buggy" is unsupported. A quick perusal of sites dedicated to the game seem to list a lot more PC bugs than console ones. Console versions of games tend to be far less buggy precisely because the particular consoles are "all the same."

now that seems excessive. what? did you save a new save slot after every 10 feet you travelled?

I would use a seperate save slot for as much time as I'm willing to "replay" if something goes wrong. I usually have no problem replaying an hour.

If someone can play through 2 entirely different games of it like I did and not encounter any bugs, I'd say the game is remarkably light on bugs compared to other games.

Pretty much, really... I always save often. I loathe replaying with a passion. An hour would be too much. I once fubarred with an emulator and lost about 12 hours of gameplay. I was too pissed off to touch the game for six months. It's just a waste of time.

Ah, this was pointed out to me once before, but like I said then, even worse than waste of time is waste of time that's in itself a waste. It's, like, twice as bad as wasting time, because you end up wasting that time again - so you have to waste twice the time you'd normally waste.

You said "it ran perfectly on the Xbox". I said "no it didn't, it's just as buggy". While this could be contrued as meaning that you specifically had no bugs, that's only if you're being really anal.

Or said person is remarkably lucky - and having no bugs is the NORM on console games.
