Jamski, yeah those look like good builds while if I had one complaint about my build its that she has so few skill points. Paladins onoly get 2 + INT Mod per level so this is a skill weak character. I went with a human to get the bonus feat and the extra skill points because I really needed them. Inrestrospect the Sorcerer should be the first level then I'd get 7 more skill points.

The alternate build, which would likely be better in MP or PvP, would be a Fighter/Bard/RDD. That build has way more skill points & feats but lacks the clerical abilities of the Paladin and has fewer spells. Still the idea of a character with a half dozen extra feats (enough to get whirl wind attack which would be devistating with my improved critical) and 100-150 extra skill points is pretty attractive. Still, for single player a Paladin/Sorcerer/RDD is pretty damn good.

Is anyone interested in an online game? I'd like to see if we couldn't get a party here at Apolyton and maybe go through a few modules or even one of the official games.

I can't even figure out how to get the MP version to work without the game crashing. Seriously, it can't be my system since every gaqme I own other the NWN works fine on MP but the two times I've tried to login for a MP game the whole thing just crashes. It's weird since I can play SP without a hitch.

I was visiting Bioware's NWN2 forums and so far it is looking like it will be little more then a minor face lift of the current engine with a few more skills, prestige classes, and characfgter races added it. Well, they will toss in Psyonics which I've never liked but there should be no revolutionary or even evolutionary changes. This is unfortunate.

The basic game engine was introduced with Baldur's gate 1 and hasn't changed much since. True, they've added in more tile sets and neat features like hidden doors (How on Earth could they consider building D&D games without secret or hidden doors?) but they still have serious issues with MP. As discusion in this thread has shown the process to host a MP game isn't the most intuitive and could stand some improvement. Other game manufacturers such as Paradox Interactive allow players to host thier own game as long as they know their own IP address (which is easily found using standard windows features). Why can't Bioware do this? I know their engine is pushing 5 years old but evolution is the key to staying competitive and there are numerous other RPGs on the market which offer easier to use and more immersive systems.

It's just my $0.02 but I'd say that's where Bioware needs to concentrate if they want to increase their core audience. The future is online MP and right now Bioware is no where near first place.

I should mention that even though NWN2 is on Bioware forums, it's not actually being developed by bioware. It used to be on the Obsidian forums, I don't know why they moved it. Obsidian is developing NWN2, not bioware.

Bioware is working on Jade Empire console game (already released) and Dragon Age.

I'm not sure when you last played but HotU has tons of items, classes, skills, feats, and prestige classes which were not in NWN. I bought NWN Palatium Edition because it was cheaper then buying both of the expansion packs plus you got several Bioware modules included. You still have to buy a few if you want to have all of them but all in all it is a good purchase.

Game play wise much has changed. The basic interface is the same but their are now secret doors, new skills, new feats, even new prestige classess. You will find the characters you built in the OC or in SoU are no longer maximized so you will need to build new PCs. The extra features in the engine are well worth the effort though as long as you are willing to spend the time.

Well... I'd estimate there's at least been 30 or 40 new items a month over the last few months, some hidden very nicely, some in stores, many on monsters. Was there any specific type of item you wanted to know about? I'd rather not give out huge lists, half the fun is fining what there is to be found

I uploaded 14 new areas on the Easter weekend, so they'll definitely be new

Unless you've changed Folderol a lot since I left you can't possibly call it cheesy. You were (are?) far better off specialising in the overpowered greatsword, longsword and axe based weapons you can find quite easily. The kukri +3 (and the one you added in the exotic weapon shop that was slightly better) paled in comparison.

Bad game balance I say.

I'll give you jam for items anyday. It's +4 Jam, with cure light wounds once per day.

I know I said that I'd spend some time today building a bonkers magic-based munchkin, but after about 12 levels of trying to shoehorn a sorceress, cleric and RDD into one character, I just got too excited and had to go and kill some monsters. I called her Agnieda Mīt-Schieltt, which was the best thing about her. I was trying to make the perfect back-up, with mage offensive spells, and cleric healing and buffs, and enough extra AC from the RDD levels to give her a chance.

Back to SoU then!

Oh, here's the build Jamski did for me last year:

quote:
Human LG Paladin
STR 14
DEX 10
CON 14
INT 8
WIS 14
CHA 16

Take 4 Lore at level 1 and 1 each level until it is 8

1 Paly1 (Power Attack and Cleave)
2 Paly2
3 Paly3 (Weapon Focus*)
4 Bard1 (+1 CHA)
5 Paly4
6 Paly5 (Divine Might)
7 RDD1
8 RDD2 (+1 CHA)
9 Paly6 (Divine Shield)
10 RDD3
11 RDD4
12 RDD5 (Improved Critical* +1 CHA)
13 RDD6
14 RDD7
15 RDD8 (Great Cleave)
16 RDD9 (+1 CHA)
17 RDD10
18 Paly 7 (Improved Turning or Improved Smite Evil)
19 Paly 8
20 Paly 9 (+1 STR)

So at level 20, you'll have
STR 23 (max out to 35 with spells and items!!!)
DEX 10
CON 16
INT 10
WIS 14
CHA 22 (max out to 34 with spells and items!!!)

You'll have 4 attacks per round, can fight in heavy armour while singing your Bard Song (hey, its a free +1 to hit) with immense STR, and at least 9 times a day you'll be able to use Divine Might/Shield to add your (hopefully HUGE) CHA bonus to damage and/or AC for at least 6 rounds a time. You have enough STR to take Overwhelming Criticals at level 21... want me to go on and make an epic build too? It gets quite insane amounts of CHA.

That's an interesting build but with 8 INT don't you have next to nothing in the way of skill points? Also With only 23 strength you can't get dev crit so no killing opponents in one blow. In the end I think I'd replace the Paladin with fighter just to get the bonus feats and 100 extra skill points or so.

On a different note I finally killed Marag today but I was disapointed with the ending. No resolution with Arabeth other then where she confessed her love to me while she was in jail I also had that clutzy elf woman pining for me but nothing came of that either. Does anyone know who all of the male and female love interests are?

Put an end to popups!

There's no reason not to put two of the level-up points into STR intstead of CHA. Then at level 21 you take Ov'rwhelming Crit and at level 24 you start back on adding CHA, and take Dev Crit Hey, and at level 25, you'll get 4th level paladin spells

After that everything is +CHA

Hmm, it's nice, but for what purpose is it better than a fighter/paladin/heavy CoT build?
