I just decided to give this game another try and I bought the Platnium edition so I could get my hands on the two expansion packs. I had forgotten how good this game was as I had played it since it was released and now I get to replay the original, play through two expansion packs, plus all of these bonus modules. I've even found a few of my favorate old 1st edition AD&D modules (from when I use to play the RPG) have been ported onto the game.

Also there used to be a character editor which allowed you to custom design a character so you could recreate one of your favorite desk top PCs. Anyone know where to find that or do I have to do it the hard way through hours of hacking and slashing?

Well this server is up and down more than a yoyo. Good fun though, but those giants are getting a right pain in the arse.

lvl 19 now as well, 5 barb/4 fgtr/10BG ! Epic feats are just round the corner, do I need to be taking a fighter level if I want to get epic weapon spec?

You need either a Fighter level or a Champion of Torm regular bonus feat. If you go the Fighter route, level up in something else through 23, taking EWF at 21, then Fighter and EWS at 24.

I couldn't get the debug mode to work. I typed ~ and got the prompt then type dm_levelup and got the message ok but nothing happened. I've also tried to use the ones to change my stats but I couldn't get them to work. I just want to recreate my favorate D&D charactor but I seem to be having trouble.

Well, +5 vs goblin didnt turn out as rubbish as I thought it would

anyway, WRT to the fighter thing, if I take lvl 6 fighter post 20th level, does my extra bonus fighter feat come as an epic feat or a regular feat? I should just lvl up the character somewhere but Im just being lazy, sorry guys

It comes as an epic fighter bonus feat, IIRC, which allows you to select Epic Weapon Spec, but not, say, regular Toughness.

Note also that the console comands are case sensitive.

DebugMode 1 will work
debugmode 1 will not work

If you care about optimising your build take an odd number of fighter levels before you reach epic levels, then (if your build allows this) you can take epic focus at 21 (level of class that allows focus and is constructed to give feat) and epic spec at 22 (the fighter level).

I played NWN for about 5 minutes last night. I started the second chapter, reached a golem that was indestructible and died. The phone rang, and when I came back I just started to play SMAC. For the rest of the evening.

Optimising is essential. I'm all for it.

I'm trying to think of a way of making the ultimate WIS character. I'm guessing they have to be a combination of Monk (AC bonus) and Cleric (spell bonus) and have the Zen Archery feat... so perhaps with 5 levels of fighter to get Epic Weapon Focus in Longbow? Ideas?

Hmm Monk/Cleric. The stats work out, but I think you need to decide whether it's a Monky Cleric or a Clericy Monk.

Actually, one fighter level would suffice to get EWF: Longbow. Epic Weapon Focus has no requirements for levels in any single class, you just need some Weapon Focus and at least 21 levels overall. If you wanted to get four attacks, though, five levels of fighter (four pre-epic) would work very well. I've never seen a use for Zen Archery before, but then again I've never seen a longbow-wielding Monk/Cleric before.

Then the other problem is how to spread the levels and what race to take to avoid the xp penalty. Since no race has cleric or monk as preferred class, we could go with Dwarf (fighter as preferred class) or a very Clericy mix - Monk 6 / Fighter 5 / Cleric 29. If this was the case, then I'd build the character with a TOTAL emphasis on WIS and CHA to start with, put all level-up increases into WIS, and use equipment that boosts CHA and WIS. Then I could take the very handy feats Divine Shield and Divine Power for even more insane character optimisiation, and hopefully be the scourge of Undead - normally the bane of archer type characters.
