Hmmm.... if thats to be the case Curt then I fear I've already let the cat out of the bag and held it up for all to see.
Back to the Nautilus Curt, do you think there's a chance you could take a crack at designing one? If not then I'd more than understand.

I have a question to ask the forum in regards to the existance of both a generic cavalry and lancer unit. I realized after compiling a preliminary list of all the units that each and every playable civ does infact have their own cavalry unit. Should I then keep the cavalry and the lancer unit for the sake of the Independant civ or should I use those two slots for more exotic units?
Should I decide to axe those units I'll likely use one of the now vacant slots for a "Latin American" unit to be deployed in independant controlled cities in Latin America. The other vacant unit slot could then be used for an Aboriginal South American unit, that way I'll be close to having one Aboriginal unit for each continent on earth.

Okay the, if I am to keep with the idea of having an Aboriginal unit for each continent.... are there any idea's as to what unit could repersent the vast lands of Central Asia and Siberia that belong to the Aboriginals and what they may look like?

Okie dokie, I will definitely go with a Mongol Horde looking unit to represent the nomadic peoples of Siberia. As for now I've hit a snag with the designing of the advanced level infantry for the Aboriginals, Continentals, Orientals and Muslims. Hopefully by next week I'll have cleared this hurdle and will be able to start focusing on the events.txt and such.

Okay, I am officially in need of idea's and inspiration for the "Advanced Level Infantry" in this game. What I'm looking for isn't necessarily historically accurate uniform descriptions.... but rather something straight out of turn of the century pulp fiction.
What I need are idea's for the Oriental's Advanced Infantry, the Aboriginal Advanced Infantry, the Muslim Advanced Infantry, and both the Continent AND Anglo Advanced Infantry. Now again, I'm not necessarily looking for physical contributions.... but I won't turn down a unit if one is being offered. What I'm looking for are exotic lookings units.... units that actually look like something you would have seen in Disney's version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
That reminds me, Curt.... Gareth.... Steph.... Harry..... if any of you out there are interested in contributing, I'd like to renew my request for the Nautilus. Out of all the units needed for this game, that is the one I am all but certain I can't produce on my own. I would love to add any one of your names to the credits as contributors to this project of mine!!

Well first off, I'm not too sure what you mean Exile when you say "Cthulhu". Although I do have a question I wanted to ask you Exile about the map you designed and placed cities in for Imperialism 1870.... that was your map correct?
Anyways Erika to answer your question about the Victorian tank what I'm going to use is the unit I posed some time ago to be used in my abandoned "Years of Rice and Salt" scenario. The tank is steam powered and at the time I designed it I was quite happy with it. Now however that I'm working in ToT.... well I'm hoping to enlist some help in making full use of the ToT pallet. In the mean time, this is what the Tank looks like as of now before I've tweaked it for the full colour pallet. Also, I've included the lightning gun unit along with the volcano unit which will lead the way to the "Center of the Earth".
Unfortunately, I've only now started to understand the difficulty in ToT events writing. All together, when taking in the fact that I want to create brand new units.... cities... terrains.... icons.... peoples and everything.... I'm starting to come to the realization that this project will take much longer than I initially thought.
Btw, I love that oil wagon Boco.... maybe I could use that or something along similar designs somehow for one of the freight units.

Believe me Techumseh, now that you have offered your help I will most certainly call on you when needed. Some of you may already know this, but I've often attatched long stories with my reports in PBEM's over at CDG. What I am hoping to do is create similar large scale storylines that will be presented through the events.txt when triggered.
My goal is to have the scenario play out like a novel, one that reads like the works of Doyle, Wells, Kippling, Burroughs, and of course Verne. Hopefully I'll have enough space in the events to pull this off. I'm also hoping to have some early composite screenshots available sooner rather than later to wet your appetites.

I appreciate the contribution Erika but I've already included a Gattling unit by Gareth in the units.bmp. It was originally requested for the long abandoned "The Blue and the Grey" scenario by myself and Tom. I had always felt bad that we'd requested the unit and then were never able to properly release the completed scenario, so this is my chance to make good on the favor he did for us.
Though yours and his do bear a striking resemblance.
Anyways, I'd like to know the forum's opinion on the idea of using the events to advance the plot of the scenario like a novel. Is this someting thats possible even with the expanded events potential of ToT? Does anyone know how much greater capacity the ToT events hold over the events in MGE?

Well Typhoon, the problem is finding a single design for a 1900-era unit that embodies all the characteristics of multiple nations. The aboriginal advanced infantry for example would have to represent ALL the aboriginal people's of the world, from the Sioux of the American West to the Aboriginals of Australia. If you'd like to take a crack at what such an infantry would look please be my guest.
Other than that unit development is moving along quite well, though I'm affraid units such as the Nautilus, King Kong, Atlantis, the Iceburg are all out of my league. Again, if you Typhoon or anyone else out there wants to take a crack at any of the above mentioned cities please be my guest.
I've also noticed how fast you can still run out of room for units even with the expanded units.bmp. If only there were a way to add another nine or eighteen slots to the game.

Curt I would be truly honored if I could credit you as an original material contributor for this project. In the mean time, I have here the first of many screenshots taken from the World of Jules Verne. Please forgive the poor quality and faded colour of the following image.... it was taken more than a century ago in the most unforgiving desert in the American South-West.
General Custer's 7th Cavalry supported by Light Infantry and scores Wild Western Mercenaries have been dispatched to California to take command of what was at first thought to be a new native settlement. Upon closer inspection..... it may just turn out to be the fabled lost city of Bala itself!!
Who knows what wonderous treasures await the 7th Cavalry if this is indeed the fabled city.

But what is this? It seems that an Oriental expedition into the vast frozen deserts of upper Mongolia have also found what may be Cleopatra's fabled city of Bala. The Oriental infantry along with supporting Nippon Samurai seem just as certain as the American's that their's and their's alone is the true city of Bala. It seems that in this age of wonder and fantasy, tall tales of triumphant discovery are in no short supply.
Alas, there can only be one true city of Bala. Who do you ask has found the true city? For that answer my friend you must enter the world of Jules Verne....

Many thanks before hand Curt. Now that I have whats essentially a completed terrain set thanks to Gareth refering me to Catfish's amazing collection of terrain's. Combined with the new jaged cliff coastline I made up and the wonderfull world map provided by my man Steph, I can honestly say that I am happy with how the world of Jules Verne looks in my ToT display window.
Now I'm by no means anywhere near completion, but the map and terrain's were a giant hurdle I'm glad to have cleared.
