Put an end to popups!

Doesn't matter either way, the best team on the day won.

And it was the linesman that gave it.

I'm sure everyone's heard the rumours that he said "That's for Stalingrad". Clearly not true but funny.

I forgot about that.
It would be if it was though.

It is about time you win something, then again, considering how much you'll go on and on and on and on about it, maybe it's for the better it never happens again.

Close twice though. They just choked in the final. Cruyff may have been the best player never to win the WC.

Have to agree here. The Arsenal example is excellent. The team looked totally different with him out of the lineup. No where near as good in the back. Though I wonder if Terry will get a few starts opposite Ferdinand in WC 2006 as well.

England is great up the middle with Campbell, Terry, and Ferdinand to choose from in central defense; Gerrard and Lampard in central midfield; and Owen & Rooney as strikers.

It's just the wing players and full backs which are the question (though not Ashley Cole, who is a fixture at left back) .

I wouldn't say it was a no brainer. I think they are equally talented, and who plays would depend on who's doing better recently.

Yea, but at least we managed to win the EC once, which is a larger feat

Marco van Basten was our star in that era, and now he's our national trainer; I have faith in him (and John van het Schip)

I expect that strange statement from someone who backs a team that won the EC, but not the World Cup .

Campbell's better/more experienced at the moment and that counts at the top level but Terry's catching up. Either of them are great.

Oh, talk about bad losers!

Man United want to make it easier for them to get into the last 8 of the champions league:

Yeah, I'd rather see Chelsea-Barc and Milan-ManU this round so we wouldn't have gotten some boring matchups. Makes the tourney more interesting.

Nah, sod that. It's a knockout competition. We shouldn't rig it so only 8 teams have a chance in any year. It's fun when underdogs make it really far in the competition. Last year was great with Monaco and Porto.

Indeed. Give those teams a chance and not try to doom them. No one has a 'right' to the final 8.

If they wanted that, they could do that European Super-League they've been talking about.

They do want that, they've trying for years now. The trouble is, who's in and who is not.

The other point being that it is better to be king or even prince in one's own country than a mear peasant in Europe. No one likes a loosing team, even at the highest level.

No, I know that... but they shouldn't screw with the Champions League. If they want to just play the best in Europe every week... there is an option open to them.

Campbell is still a good player but has past his best days at Spurs. He's slower, probably because he carries more muscle now and runs a lot less at Arsenal.

After the season Terry had he should replace Campbell, but i can guarantee Sven wont do it, just like he kept Seaman in the team long after he shouldve been blooding a younger keeper. He thinks we'll collapse or something without these regulars, if theyre not playing well you drop them, its as simple as that.

Are you saying hes faster more agile player at Arsenal? His footballing brain may have improved slightly, but that hasnt compensated for his lost accelleration and pace. Im saying he was a better defender at Spurs, he has less responsibility at Arsenal, less pressure, and i think that has changed his game for the worse.

Tired of ads?

he's got a bit slower, but he's hardly laurent blanc , his footballing brain, his awareness, position etc. has improved a lot, and i think this more than makes up for any loss of pace.

but i suppose neither can claim to be unbiased on this issue
