Ive never bought a console on the day or even first months of release, anyone who does has more money than sense. Id pay £100 at most for a brand new console, then theres the cost of chipping it.

When PC can play the same games just as well, can surf the internet, get email, allow you to run a business, view porn and other multimedia, listen to CD's, burn CD's, need I go on? |
I didnt know i could be running a business with a PC, but if i did at least i know now i wouldnt need fork-out for a pen and paper, just get a $400 PC instead.

Come on, the console is just a dumbed down PC that is purely built to play games.
The PC can do what the console can, but the console cannot do what the PC can.
Yes, I bought an XBOX (to see Halo2, what the hype was etc) and I bought a PS2 (GTA SA). Halo 2 had a good story at the start and all, but I was confused as to why the graphics were not as good as even mediocre FPS games on the PC. (For example, rocks on the ground were made up of like 6 polygons). The ocean water and the open space impressed me, but then again I was more impressed with HL2's water effects.
After about a 1.5 months, I got sick of GTA SA because I STILL felt that the controls were limiting my abilities to play the game. I knew that if I had a mouse and keyboard and a higher resolution monitor my progress in the game would be doubled and it would be more fun.
Same goes for Halo 2.
So I went down to hire another console game out, I looked through all the Xbox games and all the PS2 games... and I could not find one game that looked appealing, 90% of the games seem to be made for children or have corny characters you might see from Dragon Ball Z who seem to have this neverending strength that gets more powerful each episode. It's. Just. Plain. Stupid.
So I sold my PS2, XBox and games. I was very very happy with my PC. I had instant access to the internet, even while playing games, I could mod my games to my liking (not that I do, but if I ever wanted to, I know that I can). I have a high resolution monitor that people can't nag me to watch TV on. I have my trusty keyboard and mouse which can play ALL games, whereas I found that controllers don't suit all games, most, but not all.
I would love to see the most experienced FPS PC player vs the most experienced FPS Console player just to prove that the Keyboard and Mouse is unbeatable.
