Much developable land still remains to the south, and the downtown core has many opportunities for upzoning as well. This is being planned for the next Five Year Plan.

wow, no idea we were such an effective salesman for Maxis

Better than another game. You can jump in this game when you feel ready. There's still several unclaimed lots. The more, the merrier.

Smiles! How realistic is my city? I didn't use any specific real world idea as an inspiration when I planned it, myself, but maybe somehow someway it's still realistic. (I doubt it.)

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Yes, some comments about Y city would be nice... Sorry for not updating over the weekends, issues with the nvidia firewall were causing random bluescreens, leading to irritation on my part. I think I have the issues resolved and intend to play to 2045 tonight. (I will grab the 2040 saves at the appropriate time)

Fray Bentos '45

Stats:

9,405
36,086
10,713

The past 5 years in Fray Bentos were spent improving on existing residential areas and bringing an overall more realistic (if not more attractive) look to the city.

The old residential and commercial areas were seperated by plazas, open grasslands and forests. In the new residential area a beach was cleaned of toxic runoff and designated safe, this gave a big boost in desirability and saw lots of luxury apartments pop up overlooking the coast.

Although theres still lots of undeveloped land in Fray Bentos, i think its unnecessary to use it all for the city to feel "complete". Ill give it 5 or 10 more years to fix the remaining problems.

El Dorado 2045 is up Support Apolyton

Soon.

While waiting on uploading it to Angelfire ( )

PICTUARS TIME

Finally El Dorado is starting to get a peice of Taipei's high rise development pie.

And it's damn time too, after all our investment in human services and low taxes. We won't just go the easy way out like the rest of yall and let the commercial districts boom and bust on hyperspeed. No! We here in El Dorado are doing our part to fill the residential demand. No easy money in this city. I can proudly say there was not a single tile of medium or high density commercial zoned between 2040 and 2045.

El Dorado's GRRRRRREAT educational system

Lee Elementary serves New El Dorado's exploding population. Due to the huge amount of students, El Dorado Elementary (in Old El Dorado, south of Cliffside Avenue) was upgraded to handle much larger capacities, and now some children from the high rise developments of the New city are bussed down to the old rich city (although with recent rezoning there has been an explosion of its own in development south of the Avenue.)

To better serve the city, Patton High School moved down the street into a much larger facility. Enrollment in it has doubled.

Out of picture: a new library serves exclusively the northern chunk of the city, and a new hospital is placed in Spleen Park (now known as Cherry Vanilla Park.)

Bubble Junction '45

Bubble Junction made it through the commercial bust relatively well, and is looking forward to the next boom.

I've made an avenue connection to Y City, it should be lined up perfectly with the avenue near the rail connection.

*gulp* That makes me nervous...

Anyways, I am up to 2040, massive commercial boom, stats now:
R: 141,865
C: 71,668
I: 7,357

Several of the less desireable business deals have been vacated from the city to make room for an expansion of the industrial and commercial zones. High-Tech industry is slowly replacing Manufacturing, and high-rises are sprouting up all over.

Interim download: www.atragon.ca/simcity/y2040.rar

Note, no time to go to 2045 tonight.

Blountberg 2045

The name of the game for these past 10 years has been densification. Single family homes have been removed for mid-rise apartments and condos as well as commercial service jobs. The subway system was expanded throughout the city. An airport was added to serve the city as well, though it is currently not used much due to the recent downturn in Comm. Office demand.

Here we see new development in East Village near the airport, as developers build on some of the last remaining undeveloped lands in the city limits:

The newly densified section of Blountberg Heights, where the once quaint single-family homes have given way to a plethora of mid-rise housing units:

Like I said, don't let me hold up the game. I just kinda wanted to play the city a little bit, and fill up the region some, since nobody else took the small cities, and they looked kinda empty.

I don't have access to SimCity now any way, because I am in Berlin for the week, and so I only have Internet at a public computer.

The Grand Projects
East Central 2050

With resident income and tax revenue on the rise, the latest Five Year Plan brought about many new amenities to the city.

The first is the new Apolyton University overlooking the city from its cliffside perch on Carrot Heights, former location of Aunt Jo's Carrot Farm.

Provost Harrison has supervised the construction of wind turbines and two dormitories near the university. Meanwhile, private merchants have opened numerous other must-haves, including pizza joints and, ahem, tobacco shops.

Suffering from ads?

With a new university, high tech is booming. To celebrate the city's 1337 skillx0rs a Palace has been built near one of the many high-tech districts.

Major funding came from a loan by the Eventis Society, which hopes the new granite palace will symbolize the solidity of their latest server to a skeptical public.
