Hey, guys, I've been following this game since the beginning and now got jealous enough that I couldn't keep myself from playing SC, too.

I took a small lot between Maquiladora, Lemmy and Jonny, and played it till 2030. If you guys are interested in having the lot, it can be found here:

http://www.vovan.net/sc4_game3/Vovan_Fairfield_2030.zip

I figure filling out the region further never hurts eh. So I hope you don't mind me jumping in. You all already have a lot of players though so don't wait in my updates, just keep playing as normal.

Here's some screenies. First is the region overview to show you precisely which lot I got:

Then, here's the transport network. I mostly reused existing connections, but I did make new boulevard and rail connections to Lemmy, looking to extend his existing networks. The rail is not getting used at all, though the road is getting a nice workout.

And here's the city itself. I looked at the surrounding areas and found them far too rich. So I jacked the taxes on high-wealth residents and high-tech industries up to 15% to deter them from coming in, and concentrated on affordable housing and dirty industries. Of course, the level of services in the city is set up accordingly. It still generates a healthy profit, however, as you can tell by my current balance. No cheats or U-Drive-Its have been used at all.

Yeah... It wasn't on the last page of the thread, and I was too lazy to dig around to find it, and figured it was sufficiently far from me that it wouldn't affect my zone demands much.

Got it in my region, too, now, and also, here's the stats of my city I forgot to include:

Yes (well, at least I did) and yes. It looks like he's built a true slum, with virtually 0 services, allowing for a huge cash flow...

As for Blountberg...

The city has undergone a residential boom while the commercial boom continues. Developers went on a hi-rise binge in downtown, an event believe to have been caused by the improved subway structure and the mysterious appearance of another city to our west. Whatever the cause, Blountberg's population has increased by nearly 30,000 people.

Connections made: Rail, subway, and additional road connection made to Fairfield. Hooked into the last 2 of Smiley's road connections to me, and hooked into Smiley's subway connection.

Three previously unknown islands have been discovered off the coast. Seeing an opportunity when it arises, General Ludd snuck into the Mergdale Treasury and made off with all the city funds in the middle of the night, headed for the new islands.

Trinity Islands '30 (I let the ticker go untill 25 without doing anything)

During the first five years, Ludd quickly established a sea and ferry port. The city has grown well, and there is already a fully staffed hostpital. There has been some problems with fires in the industrial district - four fires where started. Three of them where only minor, but the the last one nearly burned down the gas plant.

I reconciled edges so all the new connections would show up...overall it costed me about 100k, but i could afford it...my income has never been so high, not even in Easy games.

The avenue connection from Blountberg has been connected to my main avenue system.
I also extended the elevated rail into a new subway system under and around Sacaferocious Shops. In the next 5 years it will be extended further underneath Crimigrational and also connected to my other neighbours if they want.

I especially like how he built the coal plant on the top of the hill, so that everyone was guaranteed to be living in dense smog.

But Vovan should of built a city on one of the coastal provinces, so that I could have a direct neighbour to my island... or he could of taken over Mergdale.

I don't know, it's pretty much at the state I wanted it to be and the only thing left to do was to build a sub-way system.

I thought about updating it but once again my deals where cut and no neighbours had any spare power, so I didn't bother. I would of ended up spening all my money on windmills and fastforwarding another five years.

Maquiladora, sure it's possible. I've made more before in large regions. Basically, I could just zone up everything and not worry about demand ever dropping off for anything but the most wealthy residents, which I didn't care for any way. Check out my income/expense and funds graphs - no unnatural jumps.

Jonny, . I figured the region could use a poor 'hood, because you guys have waaay too many rich folks. With the poor folks from Fairview providing vital services that educated people would rather not do, you can fit more of them in.

Lemmy, . Sorry... I had hoped I wouldn't mess up the edges for anyone.

Ludd, . I'm evil, yes, though I can't claim full credit for this, as I wasn't aware elevation had any effect on the spread of pollution. Now all this dirt in the air suddenly makes sense.

I hadnt checked your city at the time so i was wondering WHY would anyone want to do that to a city... but it looks like it will take care of the high demand for cheap housing around me.

My demand is all over the place. I can understand the Industrial, companies don't appreciate 20% taxes, but the commercial demand is surprising. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Blountberg Year 35:

The subway infrastructure in downtown, River South, and the Blount Works was greatly improved, allowing for hi-density development in the River South area without much improvements needed to surface transport networks (although 1 road was widened to an avenue). Population again increased by almost 30,000 people, just as in the 5 years before these.

Many of the new residents commute to Bubble Junction to work via railroad (more than 7,000 daily commuters).

Okay, so I have been offered to build the Opera House. While I was looking for mods on simtropolis before we started, I ran accross a fix for the Opera House. So clearly something is wrong, is it serious? Since we are not using the fix should I not build the Opera House?

http://apolyton.net/upload/view.php...entral_2035.zip

East Central 2035

A speculative bubble burst in the regional office market, leading to a crash in demand and an emptying out of dozens of office towers throughout downtown.

This caused havoc on the current five-year-plan to transform East Central from a series of commuter towns to a real downtown. Although the very well educated and healthy population was moving rapidly into the middle class range, the lack of jobs in town meant continued long commutes, now by subway, into neighboring Blountberg and Bubble Junction.

To facilitate this (I'm not sure if this is becoming self-defeating...) transit infrastructure was upgraded. The Blountberg lines and the Bubble lines of the subway system were connected.

At the intersection of these two subways and the existing rail network, a sleepy row of shops ballooned into Hemp Junction, the latest place in town for shopping. This model will be copied in the next Five Year Plan to bring more jobs into town.
