Also, I want to know if any of the admins have actually reviewed the map and the start positions before we go ahead and play this thing. Emperor is not an admin. But, if the review has taken place then I see no reason why he can't input the passwords and get the game started.

not only that, but does it seem like our game admins are going to be AWOL for the whole game? If both of them can dissapear for more than a week at a time now, what happens when a dispute arises and they can't be found for 10 days? The admins aren't exactly gaining my faith for quick and fair rulings at the moment.

Tenative Build Queue - Based on screenshot Got spare money?

After some consideration and looking at things with Spreadsheet & Sim, I think that this Queue will be the best, BASED on just the screenshot.

Enk War - Enk War - Enk War - Worker - Settler - Granary - Settler(s)

this is based on the facts:
- that we can grow fast,
- need more workers to help get the Settler pump up and ready,
- allows 3rd Enk War to explore around a bit before needing to return home,
- lessens our need for early Taxes and Luxes, based on Unit costs (with worker, then settler, we will lose 2 GPT).
- less Luxes (and Taxes), sooner we get IW.

This also gets our First Settler out of the door as soon as possible, to start setting up for Mil Unit builds. The extra Worker will also help in that respect.

I'll update this when we actually get a save.

I have been thinking along the same lines. I believe that it would be folly to build a granary before our first settler as it is such a large build that we could get overrun (or at the very least loose a lot of shields) is we were to get attacked before it completes.

Getting out that first settler and devoting it to Enkidu Warriors for MP, exploring and just as a plain detterent, will be vital to our survival.

Umm, I did, it's been posted for a few days. It's here in this post. Thing is, it is incorrect in that I have a hills were there isn't one (at 6-3 from the start Location). But other than that, it's the same as what we can see/conjecture.

I know that 1 person has already download it. If you une it, it would be best to do it as PBEM, with civ 2 being computer. That way, the worker actions will be the same as in our game (SP workers are slightly different).

When I originally said (different thread) that we probably should build a settler before a granary, the few who responded were so adamantly against the idea..... now, everybody is hopping on the bandwagon. I just had to laugh.

Looking back at the thread, I see that only one person dissented about the building of a settler first, and then he actually stated "unless we are next to a cow." All others were supporting the idea (or at the very least not discounting the idea).

Got spare money?

I have bad news...

It seems the game has been started with the difficulty on Regent instead of Emperor. CDZ has supposedly confirmed this. We'll have to wait for Emperor to get it right.

Heck, I'm ok with it being on Regent since the setting effects every team the same way.

No, it only effects economic and happiness functions of the game. All resources, huts, barbarians, and geography would not be affected.

You get only one content person per city on emperor level; as the level get easier, you get more content citizens without having to accoutn for them through either luxes or using the lux slider or using police. The tech costs are also increased the higher the difficulty level is. And I'm pretty sure that with the higher levels there's increased corruption and waste.

Well, I see that Emperor has said he has fixed the issue and has sent the save once again to CDZ. CDZ has yet to respond as to whether or not the issue has been resolved. We'll have to wait and see.

I think that it is extremely risky if not suicidal to build a granary so early in the game. I think we should in fact build several settlers before we build granary. In between settlers we should build enkidus. Also I believe that building barracks before the granary is pretty mandatory if we wish to be able to mount a serious response to a threat that may appear early in the game.

It would hae a tremendous effect on us and it would take away one of our advantages.

We are going to be exploring with a 2 def unit, meaning we will be much better at surviving against angry barbarians. Which are decidedly more dangerous on Emperor Level than Regent. Which brings me to another point:

Was the Barbarian movement fix put into effect, or are they only going to be moving when a unit/city is NW/SE of the barb?

The "fix" for the barbarian movement was a suggested edit to one's ini file for Conquests. To get it back to normal you just follow the advice I read at CFC:

NoAIPatrol=0 in your conquests.ini file is the only way to turn patrolling back on in C3C for all AI units including barbarians. This restores the barbarian activity close to PTW expected behaivior.

Yes, it is a tiny bit risky IMO, but well worth it. The sooner you have a granery built the faster your Civ grows. If it it is not true that building a granery helps your Civ grow faster than without one, then we should not ever build one. Building one settler and one other worker, in this instance, before a granery, is the right thing to do IMO. We have to take advantage of our 2 defense unit in more than one way.

But the question remains. Is it suposed to be implemented or not? I know that I have not don't it to my ini file, as I am sure a number of other people on this team have not. But what of the turn players? Is the Barbarian "fix" susposed to be implemented by ALL turn players? This could have a huge impact on the game and the RNG.

It has been brought up there nye. For some reason a rep from another team says that we only need to worry about the last team in the play order having the above "fix." They said that the last team to play should make sure that they do not have the "fix" installed. A rep from PAL, the last team, replied that he indeed had installed the "fix" a long while ago and was asking for advice about what he should do to remove it.

IMO, it is being taken care of and I would not worry about it anymore. If there's one team, besides us, that I trust not to cheat in any way it would be PAL.

Yeah, it is indeed only the last player whose .ini affects it, as barb movements are part of the end-of-round things that happen when the last player ends turn.
