1) He was connected to the bombings from the day before (name/address found in remains)
2) He left a building under surveilance for potential terrorist activity
3) He had a big, bulky jacket on a warm summer day
4) The police said "Stop, armed police" at which point he looked over his shoulder then bolted into the station
5) He tried to get on the train

Given all of this, don't you think it would be a reasonable precaution to assume the bulk under his jacket could've been a bomb?

You'd have to be monumentally stupid to presume it's not a bomb and then have a 9th terrorist incident within just over a week occur...

The answer is, while he didn't have a bomb:

Because were he arrested, especially given his connection, there's a good chance he'd have ended up in a maximum security British prison, with no access to lawyers, no trial, nothing but a life of indefinite imprisonment. That doesn't make running away the right thing for him to have done, but it makes it a little understandable.

Worst justification, ever.

And in the end, it doesn't matter why he did it. He ran from armed police who had very good reason to believe he was a terrorist with a bomb. Go figure -- he was killed before any potential device could be exploded.

Then why did you ask why he would run, you numbskull?

There's a difference between justifying something and explaining why someone may have made the wrong decision. In your case, you're justifying the muder of an innocent man- in my case, I'm reasoning why someone may have made the wrong decision.

Clearly, running away from the cops was stupid, but that doesn't mean he deserved to die.

From the eyewitnesses I heard I got the impression they were already on top of him when they shot him. How could they not have simply handcuffed him? Unless they were expecting him to detonate the presumed bomb with his mind, as MarkG aptly put it.

Mark Whitby certainly got his 15 minutes of fame though.

Which is as likely as him having the detonator linked up to a device that goes off if his heart stops beating. What, don't look at me like that, I saw it in a Steven Segal movie once!!

He is not an innocent man. Innocent men do not run from police who shout "Stop, armed police".

The very act itself makes him non-innocent, by definition.

I think running from cops who think you're about to be the 9th bomber in a week to try to maim hundreds of civilians, you do deserve to die as a precaution. Thems the breaks...

lets admit that British cops have far less experience and knowledge on how to treat possible suicide bombers than the IDF and simply chose to shoot first and ask questions later....

aint it funny how british "media" used to present athens as an undefended city and the olympics bound to be drawn in blood and now they are living their own vile. and up to the core my good friends.
HA! more pathetic people are hard to find. about americans i wont say because they were living their own terror hysteria after 11/9.

to the point at hand though, this is serious. maybe the cops screwed up and said let's blow a darkie up noone gonna blame us. although i'm pretty sure the average brit has a lot more brains than types like asher (ok not too hard) and is of course diquitened by what happened. this could lead to racial problems, familiar to those in holland.
unfortuantely the masterplan of the archterrorists to divide up the world in two camps is going better and better. too bad, too bad.
also incident is what you describe if someone grabbed your behind in the metro, not when a bomb blows up.

one good thing out of all of this is bycicles. they dont pollute the environment and they're good for your body. everybody ride a bicycle i say. there is no evil devoided of good and vice versa.

Even just a very small bit of evidence would of been nice before they delt out his execution.

Living on the same block as a suspect and wearing baggy clothes doesn't cut it as far as death warrants go.

Where does it say that in the article? It seems like the cops should've been uniformed too... Without their bright yellow vests, and with guns, they must've looked like terrorists themselves.
