	45% of Americans are Morons Increase Your PM Length

According to ABC 45% of Americans believe in Creationism and that God created man 10,000 years ago...

If true I find that statistic simply staggering for a modern western country in the 21st century!

But at least 55% of Americans are smart enough to know the truth.

Does anyone on Poly believe in Creationism, go on you can admit it - we won't laugh at you, much...

I believe in creationism, but through the restrictions of a physical plane. I do not believe in a "creationist magic wand." There is an energy source behind it all, and I call that force God. So, yes, I believe in creationism.

if this poll is the one I'm thinking of then the "45%" includes both those who think that the creation story of genesis is the only literal truth AND also those who believe that life evolved on Earth but that God may have played a role and/or that genesis is a poetic description of the creation of the Universe and life.

I don't think so. Those numbers would be closer to 85-90% (if you exclude genesis as an analogy, it looks like it's around 82% - oddly enough the three polls I looked at - Harris, CBS, and Gallup had exactly the same value).

I don't think so, Dr. S... the poll I've seen bandied about recently says rather flatly that 45% of Americans don't believe in evolution at all.

On a scale of scary, from 1 to 10, that ranks at about a "holy ****ing ****, get me outta here."
