Do you find this statement shocking? That the world's only superpower cannot bring to justice one man who is hiding in a nation allied to it in more time than it could help defeat two of the world's most powerful military powers of their time?

Perhaps if we had kept after him instead of invading Iraq we might have captured or killed him by now?

After all it was called 'The War on Terror' - not 'The War of Regime Change'...

Since MOBIUS thinks it is easy to find one man, I say that we send him to the tribal regions of Pakistan to go look. It shouldn't take him long after we drop him off in the nearest village. After that (if he survives) we could send him after a few fugitives here.

Hitler didn't run, that's why. The Islamicists are much more adept at guerilla warfare than the Nazis were is another reason. Finally, a significantly larger portion of the world's population was at war with him. Suppose Hitler had decided to go on into hiding and to use hidden Nazi loot to continue harrassing the Allies? He could have hidden in South America, the middle east, or even a basement in Europe.

It's different to take a fight to visible enemy, that isn't going to escape and is fighting to the last man.

But OBL, is only one man, in region where the US has maybe the least amount of good solid intel (well one of the darkest areas, tehre are others as well), him having lots of support there, loyal followers who won't turn him in.. it's not a surprise that much.. I mean a little surprise yes, but something to be expected.

So the superpower can't find one well hidden man to this date. It's not a miracle. It's just the reality of the situation. And maybe he will be found. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe next week. Maybe next year. But he is still to be found.

The main difference is that in WWII, and all previous wars that USA, OR UK, have been involved, you could tell the opposition.

Mobius is so astute in his observations on USA, he should have noticed that.
Not to say he didn't, and chooses to ignore.

The other main problem is we don't have fine warriors like Mobius and Sava involved to talk the terrorists to death.

Also overestimating the powers of nations. One man can disappear no problem, if he is smart, knows how the system works, and doesn't make mistakes. Person can disappear so that none of us will ever find him.

yeah, but you have fine warriors who destroyed the largest army in the middle east (bar israel) in a matter of weeks...

The War on Terror is akin to the War on Drugs. We have been fighting THAT war for the last 20 years, and we aren;t any closer to winning. An amorphous and vague things like a "War on Terror" is bound to be never ending anyways.

It's alot harder to fight an underground operation then it is to fight an established State using conventional warfare.

If the forces of Al Qaeda were to abandon guerilla and terrorist tactics, all gather in one country, and try to fight set battles using conventional warfare techinques, they'd be gone in a couple of days.

Maybe he's not on dialysis and never was. Why was he supposedly on dialysis? Diabetic nephropathy? Autoimmune disorder? ATN? Renal Artery disease? Obstruction? Glomerulonephritis?
