No Siro.
The Israeli government has systematically tried to expell and terrorise Palestinians.
After the tanks come the buldozers, After the buldozers come the settlers.
This has nothing to do with controlling the outbursts of Hamas (as the sad last resort counter attacks for the suffering of Palestinians) etc This is just the pretext.

Kindly notice the cool smilie on the top of my previous post Ms Monneypenny.
Hmmm, interesting that this has drawn such a strong reaction from you.
It must be a sensitive issue... You rarely lose control...
In any case, accusing europeans of anti-semitism is not so wise considering your past (which obviously still haunts you as it seems...)

I don't recall outright genocide as being part of Jim Crow. The funny thing about Jim Crow is that when the weight of opinion against it in the country was made evident it fell pretty quickly and with only a few minor battles. It took a world war and millions of death to suppress anti-semitism in Europe. Of course, being merely suppressed it could someday raise its ugly head again.

Yeah the local society was KKK oriented.
racism had saturated it from top to bottom.
The movie isn;t the only reference you know. It was an easy example so you lot understand.
So, MacTBone you claim that this does not go on anymore?
That this ideology in *certain* local american soceities does not go on?
You expect me to believe you?
get real.
And get off the backs of the Palestinians while you're at it.
You are the 1 who is backing off from your past...

I don't recall Greece killing Jews.
Why do you keep refering to "Europe" is beyond me.
I have said before that anti-semitism existed all over I stand by it.
But who was the one who killed the jews?
And what does that have to do now, when it is the Israelis who are living up to Hitler's legacy?

Paiktis,
Mississippi Burning is only loosely based on actual US history. It is itself, part of that other shameful tradition we have, South bashing. This isn't to say that horrible stuff didn't happen in the South, cuz it did. You should also consider that not everyone in the South agreed with Jim Crow and that in some ways, the South has gone a lot farther in dealing with it's legacy of racism than the North has done. One example, I see far, far more interracial couples here in Jacksonville than I ever saw in the North, however; that may also be because Jacksonville is a major military center, and the military is the most integrated part of American society.

Hospitals were bombed in Iraq. The water treatment facilities were bombed in Iraq. Strategic bridges in Yugoslavia would be what? . . . every bridge in the country. Chemical factories on the Danube were destroyed, spilling their contents into the major water supply for millions and millions of people, and not just for Yugoslavia. TV stations were bombed . . . unless they were anti-Milosevic. Government offices were bombed, which, like the Murrah building in Oklahoma City, had more than just government offices.
Perhaps next time you should engage your brain before typing, idiot. In every single one of your responses to someone elses post, you have completely missed the point and gone balastic off on some tangent.

Paik, nothing personal, but I've stopped listening to you since you called Arafat a pacifist.
Why is it that you don't comment on the documents on terrorism found in Arafat's offices?
Hitler wasn't democratically electe to the position as Fuerher.
Perhaps it's the fact that Europe has a proud and upstanding tradition of Anti-semitism?

The stopping of Israeli's murders and humiliation of Palestinians and US assistance takes precedence.

He was as leader of state.

Perhaps it's your tradition of oppressing the black people (KKK and all) that makes you support the oppresive regime of Israel?

You might consider another Southern fable that recently came out, Oh Brother, Where art Thou. In this movie, which takes place in the 1930s, a Klansman running for governor is run out of a meeting on a rail. Now, like I said, it's fantasy. However, for the most part, the South did not look terribly kindly on the men in white robes after the 1920s (or anywhere else for that matter). In fact, it's more of an embaressment, even in those days.
Which isn't to say that a lot of folks didn't share similar views, because they did. But the powers that were had to go to a lot of trouble to maintain order. Blacks were not the only people terrorized by night riders or visits from the Sheriff. If you didn't share the dominent views (be it racism, religion, politics), it wasn't that safe to speak your mind. Which gave an impression of a community in solidarity with the terrorists. But as previously noted by Dr. Strangelove, it came down awfully fast, and that couldn't have happened if there wasn't a lot of support within the community for ending Jim Crow.
Also, if you can, get your hands on a copy of The COINTELPRO Papers, by Ward Churchill. It has actual FBI documentation on its real role in the civil rights movement. It wasn't protecting fearful black people from cross burning crackers.

Che: I think it's easier to integrate a people if they've been there a long time, and there are many places in the North where there just aren't many minorities, my hometown included. In the South, you probably are working, living, or partaking in some essential part of life near African Americans, and so when Jim Crow laws were taken down, it wasn't hard before "the black guy you worked next to" became "my coworker".
Paiktis: Hitler wasn't elected Fuhrer, that was given (or taken depending on how you want to view it).
How exactly is Israel raping the Palestinians? Seems it would be pretty hard...
What it all comes down to, is that there have been long stretches of time in which the Israelis did little or nothing to stop terrorism. Now, they're being pro-active becuase during all the time they decided not to take action, the bombings *never* stopped.
I wonder how successful a Palestinian State can ever be if it is founded on the ideals of terrorism.

Stop Israeli aggression, destruction and repopulation of Palestinian territory now.

Actually the facts of the movie seem to best fit events that took place in 1911, in which a Mississippi govenor who actually favored better treatment of blacks was soundly defeated by a Klansman, not the other way around. The election was shortly followed by one of the Mississippi's worst floods ever ( like the flood at the end of the movie ).
