If reproduction is the goal then why is the urge to engage in intercourse with an accompanying urge to avoid parenthood positive?

If you kill or will do anything to stop a baby from coming into the world at all costs, then you are insane. That also is a disorder.

Mothers who have abortions usually aren't insane, as most of the time they are mentally scarred/devastated by the process in the following weeks...they definitely made the wrong biological (and moral for that matter) decision, but are still showing some signs of being biologically normal as far as reproduction is concerned. So their morality level would be another issue entirely.

Thank you.

Having read that, they said obesity is a DISEASE, can you prove that homsexuality is a disease Wiglaf?

If you can PROVE that it's a disease then they should get a tax break.

It says that I am overweight because I am 1 pound over normal. should I lose one pound or try to gain 30 for the tax break when I get TREATMENT.

It's a health care deduction not a genetics reduction.

There was a time in our society when interracial marriage was illegal, and was also considered to be immoral or against the course of nature.

There was a time in our society when people believed in psuedo-science theories that tried to make racist ideology legitimate.

Some people would claim that this is where we are at right now in our society with homosexuals and bisexuals. Laws based on personal morals imposed on everyone, and psuedo-science that make homophobic beliefs legitimate.

It really doesn't. Maybe if you visualize it?

WIGGY'S DANCING CHART OF DISORDERS

Obesity - You munch much too much, making you at risk of an early death. Too many people are obese, you've got yourself a public health risk. (Tax deduction time!)

Insanity - You are a danger to society and babies and a public health risk. This isn't really homosexuality as gays usually aren't carrazzzyy about knocking off life and murder. (Prision time!)

Homosexuality - You don't reproduce when evolution clearly intends you to. You aren't insane, but you are messed up. If everyone became gay (as everyone is becoming fat), we've got a major public health risk. (Tax deduction time!)

If homosexuals went to the doctor with the tax money they might one day reproduce and avert biological disaster.

So you really believe our joke about heterosexuals who do not naturally reproduce are somehow messed up??

By the way, some ways that homosexual couples can reproduce:

1) surrogate mother
2) sperm bank
3) tube fetus

And other ways to obtain a child:

1) adoption

If the obese (shall we say, fat) people all get tax deductions (which in America they now do), should homosexuals also be given some extra cash as well? Let's look at the facts.

FAT people get money from the government mainly as incentive to go join a weight loss clinic. The idea is that hopefully this will eventually reduce the number of obese in the nation and confront a public health crisis head on.

So should GAY people recieve money to get rid of their homosexuality through counseling or doctor visits? If eating too much is a health issue, having a population totally incapable of reproduction certainly is as well...

It's a simple question..do gays deserve money from the government as incentive to become straight, as fat people deserve money from the government as incentive to become thin?

"gay behavior" is found not only in humans but in a large number of spiecies such as dolphins, monkeys, lions, etc....And from what I see they managed to survive.
What happenned is that the church and all mentelaties banned homosexuality so everyone who was didn't tell so they would'nt get "crusified". Since then our customs had never included gays in our societey. But since the 70's in become less of "crime" to be gay and more accepted up until now. So people now days are not afraid to "come out" like they were in the old days.
So I do not think the number of gays is rising but the number of people who "come out" does. Besides, in the early 1900's to 1950' gays weren't called gays, they were called priests.

What exactly is wrong with that logic?

I'd like to know what this statement is based upon.

If you mean that some obese people are eligible for Social Security Disability, then as a Disability Determination Service consultant I'd like for you to know that in order to recieve disability they generally have to have evidence of end organ damage such as Congestive Heart Failure, Pickwick's Syndrome severe arthritis, etc. None of these conditions is exactly a walk in the park.

If you mean that they can decalre itemize medical deductions, then this is true for anyone provided that your medical expenses exceed a certain percentage of your gross income and that your total itemized deductions exceed your standard deduction.

Total medical costs have to exceed 7.5% of your gross income inorder to entitle you to declare medical expenses as a deduction. That means that if you make $30,000/ year you would have to spend $2250 in order to qualify. For those of you with insurance please remember that you can not declare the portion of your medical bills paid for by your insurance, because that's Tax Fraud.

So give me a break. Anyone who spends this much on medical care really needs the deduction! Most of them are likely to be eldery people on a meager stipend or SSI, in which case their medical bills generally run up to 30% or more of their annual income. If you were a man you'd demand that these poor old folks get some assistance with their pharmacy bills.

Read the rest of my post. If he's refering to itemized medical deductionsd then anyone can get a deduction, you just have to spend more than 7.5% of your income on medical treatments.

Regrading the topic of this thread, there is no medical treatment for homosexuality, but you might see a psychiatrist for treatment of a "Situational Stress Adjustment Disorder" if you were sufficiently depressed or anxious about the way people treat you because you're a homosexual. If your bills were high enough then I guess you could get a deduction.

So I guess it's settled. Homosexuals can get deductions. I'm so glad that we cleared that up.

Before, only obesity programs prescribed as part of a treatment plan for another condition, such as hypertension or diabetes, qualified for a tax savings under a 1999 IRS ruling. Now, even if you are otherwise healthy, all you have to be is fat to qualify for a tax break.

That's the new part of the tax code and what likely precipitated this thread. The 7.5% requirement is still in effect though.

What about obese homosexuals?

Do they get a double break?

Or would they be considered insane and sent to prison?

What if you are homosexual, obese and in prison?

Should we pay you to stay there?
Because you are obviously insane!

But an itemized medical deduction is not "getting paid" for being obese, it's merely a recognition that medical care is a personal burden which above a certain level, 7.5% of gross income, should not be taxed. They're not getting padi for being fat as "Wiggy" implied, thet're being offered a meager break for trying to do something about it.

As I pointed out it's possible for a gay person to receive the same deduction for treatment to allieviate certain "side effects" of being gay. It's so good of "Wiggy" to be concerned about his fellow man. I love him when he's like that!

This whole argument is based entirely on the premise that 1--homosexuals are sick, and 2-- that they can be cured of their "disease."

I hate to repeat what someone else already said, but homosexuality, again and again, has been shown NOT to be a disease, but an unusual part of animal society. As mentioned before, any number of animals also engage in this behavior. I suppose if you want something that takes place in NATURE to be called UNNATURAL, perhaps you should reevaluate your compentency as far as how to speak the english language. Oh, not to mention, as said before but tactfully ignored, the american medical association and the american psych association have decided that homosexuality is NOT a disease. Therefore, why would they need treatment? I don't foresee a tax break unless there is a valid disease.

Also, surprisingly enough, and ignored enough by the conservative right, but homosexual therapy does NOT work. For instance, many of these men who have undergone therapy with priests and such, while married with children, still masturbate.... thinking about men! These "therapies" are only effective as a means of making people dream that they are straight, not make them actually heterosexual.

Thank you for not ignoring my post.

And I want to add my own comments about those ignorant-based "therapy" groups you mentioned.

Those therapy groups could possibly be manipulating closeted homosexuals, or homosexuals who are still coming out to themselves, whom have low self-esteem, low confidence, or having some other kind of difficulty in accepting a true part of their identity.

These fake therapy groups are misleading these deceived people into thinking they can change something that cannot be changed. All they can do, is change their behavior and ACT like straight people, when they will always be gay or bisexual.

And the American Psychology Association and the American Medical Association did not change their stand on homosexuality overnight due to political pressure from 5% of the population that have little political influence.

They changed their statements about homosexuality after several research projects and studies that were done in the psychological field.
