The burning issue (until I get a decent source about this based on unpartial empirical observations) at hand is if natan (as a representative for the people of Israel) accepts the rights of the palestinian people and all that that implies regardless if they invented their nationality yesterday or in biblical times.

Can you show me the references to this concept in the early 1800s then? The term "Palestine" is itself a borrowed word in Arabic.

I am not "a representative for the people of Israel," but yes, I don't think it matters particularly whether the Palestinians as a distinct nation came into being in 60, 1860, 1960, or 1996.

a little amusing part of the justification of the settlements are that they should be re-settlements of areas that where lost earlier due to the war in 1948. (I know one of the Israelis here used that one).

Kind of gets problematic if the pals would like to get equal opportunity to re-settle...

Well....4 pages of posts....these comments are to no one in particular, just my thoughts on what's been said.

It might be wise to note that before the 1948 war, a lot of the Palestinians took off from Israel because the Arabs nations told them to clear out and make way for the war. The Arabs promised that after they eradicated the Israelis, the Palestinians would be allowed to move back. Israel has stated that they are willing to allow these Palestinian refugees to return home, but they don't.

The Israelis DID preempt an attack in 1967, but in the face of ever growing Arab aggression.

In other cases, the Arabs attacked first. If they had legitimate problems, they should have taken their grievances to the UN.

As far as the whole Uganda thing goes, Perhaps you not initiated in the history if Israel and the Jewish people. Are you aware that Israel has been the traditional homeland of the Jews since biblical times?

1956 France built that canal. British trade relied heavily on the canal. Nassar stole it. It doesn't matter anyway. The whole Suez crisis succeeded in drawing world attention away from the Hungarian Revolt of '56 and the Soviet Invasion that crushed it.

If you want to say that any war is justified because land has been stolen, thats fine with me. The next time Germany invades Poland to get Prussia back I'm sure you'll be happy to support Germany because they are justified.

What problems are you reffering to? Ghana is a democracy with a good human rights record. Economic growth from the late 80s onward has been strong. Ghana is viewed as a golden example for Africa by the IMF and the World Bank.

I would ask you about your own country, but you're too shy to say where you're from.

Nasser didn't steal anything from France or the UK. The canal was built on Egyptian soil that was stolen by the colonialists. If I steal your house and build a garage on to it, that doesn't mean the house belongs to me - and the garage doesn't belong to me either.

So what? If the Palestinians want to be in Palestine so much, they should wait a couple years until they outnumber Jews and then head to the poles.

Its not Israel's fault the British made conflicting promises back before 1948.

Perhaps you missed the part where I said "Traditional." Israel is where the Jews settled after Moses led them out of Egypt. Israel is where David, and Solomon, and all of those other Jewish kings ruled for hundreds of years. Israel is where the Jews lived when the Romans came and starting shipping the Jews out. If anyone has a right to live in Israel, its the Jews.
