The unrestrained population growth will be an enormous burden instead of an asset. There are also deep politcal (e.g. the caste system) and religious issues (e.g. Hinduism supports the caste system and the unchecked population growth) that need to be tackled.

Until these problems are solved, India will remain just a potential.

China isnt doing to great at the moment. Laying off tens of millions of workers in state industries. The Communist's seem to be having some trouble, as its estimated only 20% of the population supports them. They will fall, and soon. Then and only then can china truly progress.

Long range missile strikes are only good against the slower moving bombers - that's what the Phoenix system designed for. Fighters are too nimble for that. Even the AWACS are just going to direct fightes to intercept incoming enemy fighters.

IIRC, Russia has been selling the "Moskit" ("Sunburn") anti-ship missiles to the PRC.

By 2050, the Russians will be a great power. Not a super, but it's debatable if there will be ANY superpowers in 50 years.

Hmm. The question is, would Russia join an alliance with the EU or with the USA? On the one hand, they fought with one for 50 years. On the other, they haven't exactly had the best ties with Europe either, and China's going to move agressively towards Siberia.

Britain, France, Germany, and Japan are economic powerhouses. Thus solidifying Great Power status. And yes, he is right as well that it is basically a unipolar system (which happens when there is one superpower) with the US being the hegemon. However, we are rapidly moving to a multipolar system with China and the EU gaining on the US position.

name one republic besides the baltics that will survive without russia for another 10 years. Belorus' is already reunifying. They are seeking support from Moscow and are eager to adopt russian currency. Ukraine is still acting like an ex-gf. She wants back in but she's throwing hissy fits. No matter how long they teach their kids ukraininan, they speak/act/are russian. Russia on the other hand is playing the role of the gentle bf. They steal Russia's oil/gas/power, and Russia lets them get away with it.

My hopes are that at least these three can form a new Union of Republics. Because really, we are pretty much all the same people. I don't care about all the 'stans though, except for Kazahstan. There's still the baikanur there and half the entire population esp. along the Russian border are Russian. But I don't see the Kazah gov't getting chummy with Russia.

The Georgans etc. arn't likely to come back either, but its more their loss than Russia's.


I'm from Kiev btw, if you think I'm some Russian elitist from St. Peter or Moscow. I just think that the country would be stronger this way. And so far nobody I've talked to from Ukraine or Belarus' mind if their capitol is Moscow instead of Kiev or Minsk.

I’m agreed with you 100%.
No matter how long those republics cry about their ‘independence’, they depend of Russia and always will. Georgian people should elect other president. The policy of their current president is the policy of sick man. Their so-called economy based on Russia, they can’t survive without us. The confrontation with Russia is the dead end for Georgia.
