In Greek courts you have the right to swear either
a) on the bible (new testament I think)
or
b) on your honour

I am not surprised at anything the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals comes out with. If they shipped this whole court to Cuba or China the locals there would hardly know the difference.

I think the 9th circuit court also outlawed all of our money...

(kolokotronis was one of the formost revolutionaries in the fight of liberty) - and he also had a big cross on his helmet.

BTW they thought that only *they* were the romans. all others were something else (levantines, franks, venecians etc) - which is logical considering that eastern roman empire was alive 1000 years more than the western (where proto nationalities were taking place)

"Hear the lamentations of the turkish women as they weep for their slaughtered men"
Kolokotronis, 1821.
Yes, he also was a poet.

Come on Dino, I expected better of you.
"under God" was not originally in the Pledge; it was added to it in the '50s, as a way to affirm American democracy against "godless" communism. "In God We Trust" was added to paper money at the same time for the same reason, IIRC.
The phrase "under God" is a worthless anachronism and it's high time it got tossed into the wastebin of our history.
